    Reducing Screen Resolution

I'm not sure it's possible judging by what Google is (or isn't) throwing up. I'm trying to hook up the laptop to our CRT TV. It has the output for an RCA cable, and I can get sound on the TV no problem but not picture, and I'm fairly sure it's the screen resolution. However, I can't reduce the screen resolution down below 800 by 600 in the settings.

Is there a way around this, or some driver I can download? I'm not really into spending money, as it's only to save burning dvd's (and both tele and laptop are probably on their last legs), but it'd be handy to be able to play direct off the laptop/ external hard drive...
