    Monaghan

Injury-time penalty for Monaghan following an "I think I'll fall over" confirmed the three points for the Mons in very entertaining game in wet Gortakeegan when, just beforehand, Wexford had pressed hard for the equaliser but just gave themselves too much to do. With Anto back, Wexford started Packie, Wolfie, Anto, Breener, Chris, Kevin, Jimmy, Shane D., Dean and Gary and Danny up front. Danny had an early left-footed one-on-one but Mons keeper got down and then Mons took the lead when ball was lost on Wexford's left and transferred by neat passing to the other side leaving Bermingham to slot it away past Packie. Second goal for Mons then came when routine freekick was delivered well into the box but should not result in free header for two nil. However, Wexford were doing well every time they got the ball down and Shane hammered in a smashing volley for one-two. Youths then had a goal disallowed (push on keeper ?) when they got a free header and Youths went in one-two.

Second half began quieter but Breener had good shot straight at keeper while Packie got down to another from Mons attacker who was well-placed. Third crucial goal for Mons was a bad one for Wexford when same Mons player won two balls in the air against two Youths defenders and ball broke to Mons attacker who drilled it home top-left. Youths then pulled it back to three-two when Jimmy curled a free-kick top-right on keeper's side of the wall so he probably should have done better. Philly Hughes then had good chance to clinch it for the Mons and Muzzi (late sub with Gareth McCurtain) hit a low one but was saved. Injury-time penalty then secured it for Mons. Shane S. came on for Chris at half-time. Excellent performances from Shane D., Jimmy and Gary but Mons perhaps too street-wise with their experience and stronger physical presence. Like the Rovers game, Youths looked good every time they got the ball down and some of the players just need a little more belief in their own ability.

sounds like played well enough only worrying thing I guess even though starting to score more goals and more chances seem to be letting in more goals in particular from crosses. where there many from wexford ForzaForth?
