Did they cancel Shels cos they got a game with Rovers yeah?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Hard to know from the article if they just decided to play a game less or if they got an offer from Rovers and though it would be of more benefit. Either way it's strange to only announce a friendly and then cancel it the next day, maybe Shels just jumped the gun a little.

There's been nothing from Rovers so far so it's hard to know what's going on.

We're playing St Mirren in the Brandywell on 1st August. They're also playing Ballymena and Glenavon.

I would think there are more Port Vale fans in Ireland than fans of Mervue United.

you're quick on the mark Passerby. The difference is a crowd of 5,000 would turn up at Tallaght, a crowd of 200 would turn ud at Terryland!

Now now, gentlemen. I'm sure most of those will be legitimate Manchester United fans from Manchester.

Reminds me of a time many years ago when I was selling programmes at a Dundalk v Celtic friendly. I said a very cheery 'Welcome to Ireland' to anyone wearing a Celtic jersey. (For a while. Then the threats started.)
