    City sign 4 new players

Cork City FC have signed four players
Defenders John Meade and Kalen Spillane.
Midfielder Karl Caulfield and striker Derek Varian.

Cork City FC are pleased to announce the signing of defenders John Meade and Kalen Spillane.

Meade, a left back, has signed from Blarney United and has previous League of Ireland experience with Cobh Ramblers.

Commenting on the signing, Cork City manager Tommy Dunne said: “We have had a relatively small squad for the opening months of the season and we have been looking to bring some more players in. John has trained with us a number of time and has impressed. The fact that he is a left sided player who has previous experience of the league will give us more options also.”

Spillane, a central defender, was a key player for Cork City FC’s youths over the past season, and Dunne says he is pleased to have signed the 18 year old: “Kalen is a talented young player and I am looking forward to seeing him come into training to see how he does. We will be working with him to help him make the step up to League of Ireland level.”
All four players who have signed will be available for the First Division fixture against Mervue on Monday, and Dunne also hopes to make further signings in the coming weeks, telling CorkCityFC.net: “We’ve been looking at a number of Munster Senior League players since the season began, and we will be looking to bring a number of players in. There are some promising players out there and we will be looking to offer them the opportunity to step up to League of Ireland level.”

Not too sure to be honest but it would be good stock to come from if he was. Johnny C is a Leeside Legend so if he was half the player he was then we'd be doing alright.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
