WHILE SOME are welcoming it as the biggest gaming release of the past decade, it seems Red Dead Redemption has failed to get a critical fáilte romhat here in Ireland. This is because one of the characters in the game, namely the town drunk, is called “Irish” and is, the game says, “usually found stumbling around and getting into trouble with sober townsfolk while attempting to talk his way out”.

Thomas Mallon, from Gamestop Ireland, says that the media coverage has not affected on initial demand for game among Irish gamers. “It came out last Friday and the first weekend, we had really strong sales,” he says. “We get feedback from people through Facebook and Twitter and this issue hasn’t come up once from consumers.”

Best game I have ever played. I'm not obsessed about games and going on xbox live like my mates and brother but this game has me hooked. Buy it!

Got it the other day and haven't had much time to get into it. Have really enjoyed it so far. Going to get stuck into it tonight. Heard from a mate the online play is very good.

It is a really great game and as for the drunken irish gag doesn't the majority of tv and games do it already Simpsons and family guy are notorious for it

I got it a while back, I really enjoyed it anyway, online play is a bit rubbish though really unless you have loads of mates on. I've stopped playing it though since I got Bad Company 2 as that has taken up all my time...
