Correct CD wheras arbitration is where some party makes a decision on who was right and who was wrong. If the option is mediation then a "win win" result is sought so no chance of Lims winning (most likely outcome is FAI chuck them a few bob and no public statement on outcome).
Personally would much prefer an independent arbitration in this case, not holding my breath though.

The process of independent arbitration has started, with Michael Collins the arbitrator appointed by the High Court. (He was involved in a Bohs court case with the FAI a few years ago I think, and ruled against the FAI). Mediation is running at the same time, but I'm assuming (and that's all it is) that if Limerick are not happy with whatever they're offered/whatever compromise is sought, then they can take the chance that the arbitrator, who has the power to award costs and compensation, will find in their favour.

According to todays Star Limerick and the FAI have come to an agreement that Limerick can hold 1 high profile friendly a year at Thomond Park with a full capacity of 26,000 for the next ten years once it is not within ten days of the Dublin Super Cup.

Sounds like an admission that the FAI where wrong to stop it last year. It may be an unfair decision on other clubs but it was unfair what happened Limerick last year and none of the clubs stood behind Limerick then so as far as we are concerned we don't care if it is unfair on other clubs. Would think most clubs would think the same if they where in this situation. It does open a huge can of worms though.

Congrats to Limerick FC on what apears a good result for them but will the FAI be amending their contract with "a third party"

to "No friendlies over 15000 capacity except one each year by Limerick FC" ? that should sort it out, until of course another club gets the chance to line up a lucrative friendly.............

To save any further hassle with this situation:

Any club that wants to hold a lucrative friendly can send a letter in writing to Limerick FC requesting permission. I'm sure Limerick FC will be obliging and can work something out with clubs wanting to do this. A cut of any profits brought in from said friendlies will be needed of course.

Makes sense to me anyway.

I hope so too. Can't see them having top ones every year though. Hopefully Barca will agree to come again after all the hassle Limerick went through to sort this out. I would be worried about getting friendlies against the likes of Celtic or poorer premier teams. There is no way we would fill Thomond Park for the likes of Sunderland. If the friendlies are to go ahead it would have to be worth our while financially. There was word of Inter but even at that I don't think Thomond Park would sell out.

There was a time when Waterford and Cork Hibs almost filled Thomond Park for big cup ties.

There are very few clubs that will now except maybe Barca and the top English sides.

The ads for the Dublin Super Cup defrinitely stated an Irish League XI but then if you are bringing the 2nd best teams from Milan, Manchester and Glasgow why not the 2nd best league side on the island?

might seem like a silly question but that sounds to me like it could be ten days either side of the Dublin Super Cup (oooh sparkly!) which in effect would be 20 days or 3 weeks of the "friendly season" that Limerick cannot host a high profile friendly. The compromise may be more restrictive to Limerick than it first seems.

edit: Its more than likely not what was intended but it might help to,erm, clarify...

Well done to Limerick for taking on those c*nts and winning.

It was an absolute disgrace what happened.

In saying that, they still shouldve told delaney and company to go f*** themselves with the 10 day restriction thing
