And as John83 pointed out, MNS is a tangible investment in the league.

Thats bull according to Steven Alkin (RTE) .RTE show MNS of their own accord nothing to do with the FAI giving them a e4m discount on international matches, just cause Delaney keeps sayin it dosen't make it true

bennocelt, I agree with most of what you said, pretty much all. However the fact that the LOI is the sick man (or Ottoman Empire) of the "Irish football family" is more down to the lack of clubs forethought or planning. Right now we have Shamrock Rovers riding high, though a few years ago they were wandering from place to place and struggling - until they get the lease signed on the Tallaght Stadium, that could be the case again. Such is the hit and miss nature of LOI clubs, nobody (with due respect to all clubs) is more than a month away from going belly up. The FAI, for sure, can do alot better, a heck of a lot. However there also needs to be full transparency from clubs, officials and administrators. Fans need to become supporters, and be more involved in what happens in the game. Weekly we lose potential supporters to the sky league clubs, however much it galls me to say it, I don't blame them.

    LOL

Anyone who thinks RTE would give MNS a one hour prime time slot and spend all the money on production costs unless their arm is being twisted is off their head!

Just last week saw on of the GAA mouth pieces going mad about the LOI have a magazine style show and they dont!

The GAA would turn your stomach sometimes
Anyone know what happened in Edenderry? Some GAA club transfered 16 or 17 players cos they wouldn't commit to training cos of football and rugby commitments

    Anyone know the full story?

At least they didn't revert to their usual plan of running over the things the don't agree with with a plough!

Athloneman, I agree with you, though I'd be less critical of the FAI on the World Cup issue. I still believe that the 33rd team was something that was spoken about half in jest with Blatter, and he used it like he used the homosexuality issue the month before last, as a big man throwaway quip. There are far more important sticks to beat our lot with.

I think Edenderry are a senior club and didn't want their players playing football/rugby while training with the GAA club. I think they allowed the players to transfer to a junior club who didn't care and probably just wanted numbers for games.

Given that rte have repeatedly denied the accusation, and the high regard the football authorities are held in around here, I'm surprised this keeps getting brought up.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's all down to interpretation. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but after the sky deal there were legal changes made. This effectively reduced the domestic market value of rights packages. The subsequent deal could be viewed as paying a fair price, or getting more for less.

Surely at least one of these bodies are subject to foi request, if anyone wanted to ask the right questions.

The FAI aren't. Or at least, in my experience, they'll deny it if they are.
You can't spell failure without FAI

    Details?

EDIT: seems like we have been successful in our fight to have our case/complaint/whatever taken to arbitration. Is this CAS arbitration, or something different?

This just in from the FAI:

    FAI Statement

    Monday, January 31, 2010

The Football Association of Ireland today (Jan 31) confirmed to the High Court that it and Limerick FC have agreed to enter mediation. The FAI regrets that money spent on this course of action will be lost to the sport. What is decided during the mediation process with Limerick FC could have broader ramifications for the funding and development of football at all levels.

Let's hope there's enough left in the kitty at the end to still pay Johnny his eight grand a week.
