    Athlone Away

I'm worried about this game. Another 0-0 for Athlone last night against Waterford. Breaking them down looks like its going to be very tough, especially with Clarke out and possibly Tierney out for Saturday too. Hopefully we'll be the team to final get a few goals past them. They've only conceeded 4 goals this season. Will be hoping for a 2-0 win but i think it will be 1-1 in the end sadly.

1-1 would be a good result. They're not conceding many, but aren't scoring too many either. They've only scored 6 in ten games and we have a 2 goal better average than them.

Hard to imagine more than 1 goal in the game, given their record. In fact, it's hard to imagine even 1 goal in the game.

    So, 4-2 Limerick.

    athlone 1 limerick 3

an excellent performance by limerick bossed the game from start to finish could not believe how negative athlone were they were clearly playing for the draw time wasting after 50mins.
two exellent headers from judge and cahill.

now for the negative we lost boland came on for at half time he injuried his back after 10mins of been on very very unlucky he showed quality on the ball for the 10mins or so he was on.
cahill also went off injuried another player also went off.
great performance just a pity of the injurys

Great Result. Hopefully the injuries aren't as bad as first thought. If we can put Mervue away next week at home it will set up the game in Derry nicely.

Great win and some brillant away support here tonight. Willie not too bad, just a bit of a culture shock i'd say. Roll on Mervue on Friday. This league is here to be won. Scully was well pleased too by the way, never saw so many high fives !

Thought Willie looked the business for the time he was on. If that back is ok, we'll give Waterford & Derry a good run for it. Great to see the team spirit after Judge's goal. Good performances all round, JT probably didn't have his usual motm performance perhaps. Was surprised how much Athlone sat back, they offered very little and allowed us to dominate. We looked even better when Scully moved Hickey to right and Kavanagh up front since we couldn't bring on Robbie. Athlone have a great setup there....be great if we could get to that in a few years, might need it sooner as we're going up ;-)

By looking at Willie for the few mins he was on, you could see he clearly changed the field of play, Too bad he had hurt his back, but heck we came out the better team in the end, but his performance really helped.

As for Athlone, They really spent a lot of time, time wasting trying to drag out the draw, which would have worked if they didn't end up making adam think he was superman by conceading two goals :P

    How?
He was good when he came on but no way can you give him that much credit he only played about 10 mins like Yellow was very good when he came on instead of him.

Jeffrey Judge did far more and was excellent last night.

Not knocking Boland or anything i can't wait til he gets a proper game he looked very good for the 10 mins.

Fairplay to the Limerick fan that was vicously assaulted at full time from behind (no sniggering at the back!!) and didn't rise to the bait.

Athlone Towns response to this assault?? Try to play the whole thing down then when this fails rush the assailant out of the ground and refuse to call the Gardai. The person who was assaulted had to call the Gardai himself!!!

If the shoes was on the other foot and a Limerick fan assaulted an Athlone fan would they be as quick to try sweep it all under the carpet I wonder??

The person who was assaulted then mentioned their assault to the FAI match delegate and was chastised for getting Athlone into trouble!!

What an utter joke of a club. Can't control the 150 or so home fans they have rattling around in that big stand. Running into the corners to play for a draw at home after 50 minutes. Closing their bottle bar and doing themselves out of 100s of Euro incase Limerick fans run amok. Covering up assualt. Aiding and abetting crime.

Limerick FC were a different class to Athlone Town both on and off the pitch last night. I hope to God we get promoted soon because on last nights evidence we are now a cut above the likes of Athlone Town.

Shocking carry on which was only noticed by Limerick fans after they had stopped celebrating our 3rd goal, I wonder what Athlones reaction will be when one of their board members get a belt when they come down here? we all know the fella that did it, local hardman who's nowhere to be be seen when Athlone are down here. As for him getting out of the ground and how that happened well that really is a matter for the FAI, and they seen it happen so best of luck with that one Athlone.

Bolands 10 mins was fantastic btw, and his injury is not bad too by all reports. Should be going to Cork by the sounds of it.

Great win and great performance albeit a frustrating 90 minutes before Judge's goal.
