Setanta Cup Final (aka Last Man Standing)

Pats v Bohs fixed for Tallaght Stadium on May 15th with a 6.30om kick off.

Long tournament with 2 out of 9 participants going bust and Pats qualifying for semis without winning a game.

Should be a good one though

Looking forward to the SETANTA all (Dublin) Ireland Cup Final Last years LOI champions versus this seasons LOI pace setters.

Be nice to visit tallaght without all the baggage that attaches to a Bohs/shams encounter. Wonder how many players on the day (on both teams) were with the respective clubs when the competition started way back when ?

I'd guess that the only squad members we'll have would be Rogers, Lynch, Guy, Byrne and Haverty (and only Byrne and Rogers wouldn't have been part of the squad who qualified for it). Obviously Quigley was with us too.

last week v Bray we didn't have one outfield palyer who was with us last year.

Yep, good game good day out and hopefully a good crowd ! Time / date all suitable to draw a big crowd and with neither sets of fans having any serious travel it should be a decent crowd.

Dont think Quigs featured for pats and so is not "cup tied". could make a great quess question in the future if he had some impact on the final
"Which player scored the winning goal in a cup final versus the team he started the competition with ?

He has played in recent games for us (most recently at Windsor) so I was sure he could not have turned out for St Pats. Gray, McGlynn and Higgins are "cup tied" even though the Derry City they played for no longer exists given the turnover of players in the LOI (especially this pre season) playing it over two seasons was always going to affect some players.
