And I don't think I've ever heard him described as a "hard-working player"! What's going on at Pat's?!

    dunno its great isnt it

dunno what he was like in your day, but he covers alot of ground, he was sticking headers and tackles in, in his own box, in some games, works hard for the team

Excellent player, bags of potential, but a lazy fecker so never realised it. Convinced he could have gone to England if he'd wanted. Started off with 5 goals in his first 76 minutes for us. (You might remember his first Premier Division goal, which was in Inchicore within five seconds of coming on as a sub).

oh and I thought Williams was offside for 2nd one but it seems I'm in the minority

Bray were shocking defensively and Pats could've had 10. Felt sorry for Eddie
I didn't, we deserved a worse beating last night and it was the managers fault. He picked completely the wrong side, left 3 of our most experienced players on the bench, it was a disgrace. Eddie has not learnt from any of he's mistake in the past, he makes the same ones over and over and the work he is doing on the training pitch is obviously not working. Now i know it is the worst Bray side since we joined the League in 85 and not many manager would get results with us, but at least they would play the strongest tema and play the right tactics.

Apart from Coughlan's wonder strike, the other 3 goals were just shocking, VERY defendable and i don't think any other team in the league would have conceded them. We have been known for making things hard for clubs over the years but now that is even gone. We simply do not have the players to compete at this level, it's a 1st division squad and at that we would struggle in it.

Got a couple of starts. Management seem to rate him higher than fans. Most of us would have him as 4th choice wide man behind Guy, McAllister and Coughlan. McAllister played last couple in the centre so freed up a spot

seems to have a great delivery but drifts in and out of game

On current form he will be off in the summer. Possibly lower league but anyone watching him recently can see the when arsed is a serious threat.

Have to assume its Mahon, due to foot.ie i garnered we had signed an injury prone CF who doesnt score enough and we all assumed he would be 3rd choice an option to bring on late in a game, hes keeping williams out of the team and imo hes Mahons 1st choice and the other 2 are to be rotated :O

Nah he was deffo 3rd choice to begin with. Pats only have 3 strikers this year though so I'm sure they'll be rotated a lot.

Which version of Alex Williams have ye seen so far? The hard working, deadly finisher that we saw at Dundalk in his first 4 games, or the 'couldnt give a toss' waster that strutted around Oriel in the latter part of the season?

Nah he's still working hard. A couple of things haven't worked out for him but no complaints on effort

Remember Mahon was the one who got rid of him at UCD because of his injuries and work rate (or lack thereof).

But was always one of my favourite UCD players, so great to see he's getting his career back on track.

I rated Williams highly in his time at Dundalk (especially early on). Saw a limited amount of him playing but from what I saw he looked very game/busy type but prone to some dodgy decision making on the ball.

He has been very injury prone in he's career todate and when he was with us he was awful lazy on the pitch, i suppose in the past he did enough to get by but no he is playing wityh a much better quality of player at Pats so he has to put the effort in.

He showed this the other night when he went one on one with the Bray keeper he had the option to shot or square it to Vinny Faherty for a tap in, ended up doing neither and the keeper took the ball off him, His work rate is brilliant doesnt give the defenders any time on the ball but just needs to score a goal or 2 to really get him going
    Here on a technicality.
