will never make first eleven unless we are very very stuck
just a back up player
I hear Willie Bryne has signed for ye.Anybody have an opinion on him?He looked a solid player for us last year(apparently released on a free because he questioned the role of the chairmans son in the team),should be a good signing for ye!!![]()

He was a good player for you lot last year. I was talkng to him last season at the game that we lost 3-0 and he was not happy with all that was going on down at the club at the time. I think he had a run in with the manager at the time as well as a few on the board.
Let's get it going for this year the away support.
Waste of money and a squad number...![]()
Who would people prefer - Kev Murray or Willie Byrne?
I dont know, havent seen enough of Byrne to comment, but Murray looked a tad dodgy last week.
If at first you don't succeed, redefine success.
Byrne was one of the redeeming features tonight. He was very solid and composed. He could well start the next night. Hopefully he'll turn out to be daycent. God knows we need a good centre half. Murray was away with the fairies tonight
City were definitely better at the back with Byrne as opposed to Kevin Murray. Much more agressive defender especially from set pieces. Maybe not the best on the ground but wouldn't worry aboiut that if he can defend.
wouldn't surprise me at all.Originally Posted by cityboytilwedie

i was quite happy with his performance. Obviously he's big and strong and won loads int he air but I thought his distribution was fine, and he was composed on the ball, didn't come close to panic. I'd be quite happy to have him start against Longford, hopefully Dolan will realise he should.
What I liked about him was the way he harrassed Jason McGuiness when defending set pieces which we could have done with in the 1st half. Also he giving Kelly a nice few digs when marking him (out of sight of ref) from goal kicks
He could be prone to a red card or two + might give away some penalties.
I've only seen him play twice, but thats pretty much how he seemed to me. I have my doubts over whether he's good enough to be part of a league winning team, but he's certainly as good as anything else we have right now. I definitely think he's worth a run.Originally Posted by ConfusedBlue
P.s. according to posts on the BTID message board, he was released by waaaaaaaaterford for criticisning ger O'brien's son- is there anyone in the club who hasn't fallen foul of the dictator?!![]()
Well, I'll be thrilled if he continues to prove me wrong.
Probably more than fallen foul of Dolan at the moment....Originally Posted by Éanna
