Any good ones from around the regions?
They're more likely to appear on local paper front pages I'd think, but may be some on the nationals too. A story on the front page of today's Times about the launch of a new "F***ing Hell" beer looked very likely, but a bit of rooting around suggests it might be a true story (at least, it appears to be doing the rounds for some days), even if the writer has gone to town a bit on the use of the verb.
Or do they do them on other papers at all? The Munster Express has one each year, some good, some poor. This time it's a report that a celebrity candidate is to be parachuted in by Fianna Fail to contest Martin Cullen's seat in a by-election - Eamon Dunphy. Like for like then! Raised a comedy doubletake and a smile anyway.

Following months of allegations about Brown's explosive outbursts and bullying, Downing Street will seize the initiative this week with a national billboard campaign portraying him as "a sort of Dirty Harry figure", in the words of a senior aide. One poster shows a glowering Brown alongside the caption "Step outside, posh boy," while another asks "Do you want some of this?"

I dont have the link but apparently there is a story in the Irish Times today about the Irish taxpayer forking out 22 billion euro for the Anglo Irish Bank.....
Why are people who "need no introduction" always introduced?
Don't have a link but today's Sun in the UK had it's first ever lick and taste page in the Sun.... (not page 3!) There was another on the sports pages about refs trialling Segways on the pitch to keep up with the action....
'Fascists dress in black and go round telling people what to do, where as priests.....'
Not this year(havn't seen the papers yet today) but there was a good one in a local paper last year.
It basically said that the Donegal county council were launching a new rail link in the finn valley area(ballybofey and sourounding towns) which was to be modeled closely on Dublins Dart system. It was to be called Finn Area Rapid Transport.
Actualy overheard several people talking about it as if it were real over the following few days (saying things like "where are they going to get the money?", and "they should fix the roads first etc")

Wow, I am actually pretty impressed how big a fail that was from RTÉ. I mean I didn't expect anything but an embarrassment, but such abjectness requires a real talent.
The Burnley one is nicely done - glad I read that second to take the taste away.
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.
Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!

This was the lead story on 1st channel this morning - ie the channel more than 50% of the proles get their news from. At first everyone fell for it, then it was laughed off, now it's being said "No, it's for real". If you have a couple of former gymnasts (one highly controversial), a guy implicated and wanted for extradition in the pizza poisoning of a former secret agent already as party members, anything is possible!
