It's reported in the Times too. It's based on a statement made by UEFA CEO Lars-Crister Olsson.

‘Olsson made it clear that any club from a country which fails to meet UEFA’s minimum licensing criteria will not be admitted into club competitions in the 2004-2005 season.

“The two criteria which UEFA are most concerned about are infrastructure and finance – primarily the latter. Clubs have until May to fulfil the various criteria necessary for the club licence.” ’

No comment from the FAI in the article.

Remember Rovers travelling to The Cross last year for one of their 'home' games?

we're ok for another domestic season, but the licensing takes effedct for the 2004/2005 european season, which we'll be effectively competing in this summer in the inter toto cup

AFAIK City passed 4 of the licencing sections but failed on the Infrastructure.

Presumably the Shed end the primary + some loose surfaces are preventing an A licence? Maybe City could just close off the Glasheen End section & bring everyone in from the St Annes End

was at the press-conference on Monday night. Lansdowne was never mentioned ... suitable or appropriate stadiums that were already FIFA approved were mentioned ... but this issue was lead by the questioning of Gerry McDermott (Irish Independent) ...... its not as if UEFA's position has shifted at all ... but seemed to be more speculative. still very much a grey area

Thats kinda different though isn't it.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
