Derry/Finn Harps is one of the biggest derby's in Irish football, top 3 anyway.

Pineapple, would it be possible after this weekend to post something up showing each teams highest and lowest crowd of the season, if its too much work, then no worries, this must take up a lot of your time as it is.

Thanks by the way for all your hard work with all of this.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

Nah, that's fairly straightforward; it's an Excel formula which I have in the sheet anyways.

I'll post an update tomorrow. I don't think the 450 for us v Sligo in the Irish Times was official though; 550 was the number I heard mentioned at the game (an approximation of the official crowd, I'd say), and it's what I was thinking at the time. A bit more of a crowd than against Dundalk, which I have in as 500.

    .
I would have it 3rd at the minute with only Bohs/Rovers and Linfield/Glens bigger.
I would also say it's easily safer than the other 2 to attend.
There is slagging and a hatred but both sets of fans can easily stand together (when I say together I mean beside each other ) at a match.
Both sets of fans take on each other in a game in a few weeks time, should be fun.

It'd depend on which Dublin teams were doing well, but it'd be up there with Dundalk/Drogheda, any permutation of Bohs, Shels, Pats and Shams, but still miles behind the spectacle that is El Clasico at the Flan Siro!

    LOL
Dundalk V Drogs is no big shakes in DundalkFC terms anyway. It was always Shams or Bohs that done it for us.The Louth Derby **** only got interesting when the Drogs won/bought a cup & a leauge and we were stuck a division below. In the years that all have been equal(both sides in the prem leauge) we have dominated easily enough as per usual.
I wish our "Derby" match was with Newry City. just 12 miles north of us

I was really talking about LOI games. Agree re the drogs games for us, unusual for us that a team from 20 miles away would get a lower crowd that the likes of Rovers and Bohs, always our top 2 crowds. hopefully Derry will challenge that from next season.

ps Bullit, Newry had their chance to join up in 1983 when they returned to senior football, they made the wrong choice to return to the IL. Would have suited them much better to play LOI, especially with 3 other Ulster clubs in that years first ever FD, Finn Harps, Derry and Mons (and drogs not too far away either)

Did they? I thought that Derry was a one off, special dispensation job.

Am curious where did the 250 for Waterford v Athlone come from Stu? I know there was no mention of an official figure in the reports but that one is more than a wee bit low.
Anyway, I've just now got the clicker figure from the matchnight manager and it's 620.

Wasn't the crowd for the 1st Duns v Drogs game last season your biggest of the season?? (or damn near it anyway). 2nd crowd last year was very big as well.
This season the crowds have been f*cked around big time, with the 1st Oriel game on a sunday, on telly and it was Mothers day! 2nd game in Oriel was midweek. Plus the fact our support has all but disappeared this season :-(
before last season it was a long time before we had a premier league derby, but in the interim there were FAI cup games, and these attracted huge crowds.
I think some older Dundalk fans do regard Rovers as more of a rivalry, but theres defo still an edge there, and the atmosphere at the derbies the last couple of years has been terrific.

Why don't you demand they give you €15 a fortnight to remain your friends, so?

We should surpass 1004 on Saturday anyway. Not been a great season for our attendences but this is our 4th year in the 1st so I'm not surprised. Those figures for Derry and Cork are impressive though.

The longer you languish in that hell of a division the more it rots away at your support.

Rovers didn't exactly fill Finn Park with their travelling support whilst in the 1st Division.
Short memories or maybe not around "way back then".
