Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

Extratime has an estimate of 750 at Terryland for Galway-Drogheda. As posted previously, no official figure from the club

Those figures are very disappointing. If you were to look across the water, which I know isn't exactly fair taking into account vast population size difference, the above figures compare to Blue Square Conference. Now we'll never be able to compete with the top league across the water but clubs have got to work some how towards being higher than League One standard. Hopefully Shamrock can do it, they seem the most likeliest. If they keep on their current path of progression, get biggers crowds, more big games in Europe, they should be able to look at expanding their stadium to over 10,000. Cork and Derry when they get back would appear the only other clubs who might do something similar. Boh's have had their chances as champions to make a name for themselves in Europe but they have failed.

Not really. I dont think for one second the crowds would suddenly treble or more in a new stadium. I do think a better stadium would help. I think all can agree that Morton is a hole and not the best place to attract fans to and also hard to create an atmosphere in plus terrible for away fans, which im sure has to put some of them off travelling to morton.

Im sure Rovers fans can vouch to the fact that its better to be in a new stadium than morton.

As for the longford thingy. Doesnt really apply, we would be tennants in a new facility and not own it. Anyway it doesnt really matter at the mo, because its looking like morton for the time being

I can't see Fingal's new ground ever attracting significant support. It's way further out from the city and in the middle of nowhere. A green site between Lusk and Rush surely isn't a great place for a ground! I hope I'm wrong and I know it's not them building the ground but a ground close to Swords could/could have done big things for Fingal.

I agree about lusk to a certain degree. Its not necessarily the best place and Swords is where we should be, but there is nothing we can do about that as a lot of the plans for swords including the stadium have been shelved for now due to the recession. Lusk isnt eactly in the middle of nowhere. Population of 9,000 aprox with rush and Skerries having similar populations only 5 mins away. As far as I know Balbriggan Population is now even higher than the towns stated. The train station is a 5 minute walk from where the ground will be and swords is a 10 minute journey by car at most. All this still doesnt mean its ideal but I think it would still be better than Morton and thats all im trying to say.

Its only a Connaught Derby in name, most people in Sligo dont care about these games any differently to playing UCD, Fingal, Bray etc.
I dont know how Galway feel about them now.

Between 1,000-1100 at Flancare last night according to one of the people on the gate.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Rovers official told me 610 Hoops, 350 home fans. So fairly similar

Anyone know how many were at the Bohs-Shels game?

Edit: Right well it was between 1,750 and 2,000 with about 400 Shels fans.
