    Boxing - Ireland's new prospects!

With Dunne retired who is going to be the next big thing/

McCloskey and Macklin look poised to jump to world level but who is the next big thing.

My predictions are Jamie Kavanagh and Carl Frampton.

    Any others?

Yeah I know she is an excellent boxer.
Did anybody really impress in the National Championships over the weekend?

I didnt see any of it yet. I was at Framptons bout in Huddersfield - all 40 seconds of it. Not his fault of course but the fighter he was facing was crap!

he's tried it before - it doesnt work. He was trying to "box" against Walid Schmicet and took a pasting and did the same against Lyall.

Oi Duddy! fight to your strengths - literally!

Duddy is a poor fighter at the highest level, as is Lee, Macklin and several others. This is a great pity because the standards out there at the moment especially at middle are quite poor. Duddy and Lee should fight, get the media to hype it up and hold it on Paddys Day next year in New York. They both should then retire.

I was failing to catch onto your logic but then the last line confirmed that you shouldnt be discussing boxing!

p.s. this is about the next generation - neither of those middleweights fall into that category!

Frampton notched up another win on the weekend in Belfast and Kavanagh has now made a victorious debut on the Khan undercard in New York!
