There shouldn't be a comma in the phrase "The wait is over, as the domestic game"
Either that, or there shouldn't be anything about the domestic game on the RTÉ site...

Weird the way they have Pats v galway in bold
For a second there I thought RTE had figured out who I followed. Which is a fair step up for them considering they can't pick out the Premier Division jersies

Any news like this is good news for the league. A problem we had in the Irish League was that BBC and UTV's coverage of games was extremely poor and extremely amateur. When you have commentators who don't even know the players names and commentators that clearly don't do any research before a game it doesn't show the league in good light on TV. However, I suspect that RTÉ are much better in this respect and televising games is a good way to promote the product. We got over our BBC and UTV problem with the SKY deal and the quality of coverage is 100 times better. We have commentators who know players names and extensive research is done on both teams and every player before each game. It's the small things like this that matter.
Does anybody know whether or not the fact they have aquired the rights for the Magners League will affect the number of love games they will be showing?
Not sure I want to see 'love games' involving LOI players.
RTE announced when they started this contract that they'd be showing more games each season. I assume that was agreed with the FAI at the start so they'll have to follow through on that. I don't know when that deal runs out though.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
There's no reason that at least 2 to 3 games a week should be shown live between RTE, TV3 and TG4 - not to mention Setanta. This obsession with foreign football is very sad (saying that I do follow a foreign team, but when RTE are showing a ECL Qualifier between a Greek and Spanish team instead of one of Pat's biggest games in their history it says it all). 30 games from RTE would be respectable, but it needs to give more attention to First division. Promoting the league all starts with exposure. Build it up, and up and up. Make it look wonderful and epic and glamorous. It's exactly what Sky did at the start of the EPL in the early 90s and look where it is now
Think the deal runs out in 2012 or 13 (think it was a 5 season deal) by which stage RTE will be showing a game every Friday
RTE will have a half hour show on the league on Radio 1 Extra on Monday apparently. I think that station is on NTL digital TV somewhere but I don't think you can get it on ordinary radios.

Any views on RTE coverage of the Bohs/ sporting Fingal match ? I watched it on SKY + and thought it was well done (although the two in the Bohs gantry did not look too comfortable). Unfortunately one let down was the poor view of the penalty incident - given how important it was to the outcome of the game. I felt on the night (in the Jodi) that it looked a soft enough penalty and was hoping for confirmation one way or the other on TV. Unfortunately they didn't get very clear footage of the incident.
If you've nothing good to say, say it.
