We have a fair bit of work to do if its hosted at home, just a small matter of installing a min of 1,700 seats for starters.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

How many seats does your stand have? Even if you do get 1,700 it'd be a shame not to be able to make the most of a Euro game with a big crowd.

Our stand hold around ~1200 seats but a few of them don't have backs on them which is a requirement by UEFA standards.

The standards applied to us last season in comparison to Vllaznia were ridiculous.

Would Newry be an option? If you don`t get the seats installed we would be happy to welcome you to Dalymount!

I'm pretty sure Newry's ground has far too few seats for the UEFA requirements.

I assume that article doesn't actually resolve the Ian Foster UEFA Pro licence issue? As in, Dundalk have applied for Europe but could still theoretically be turned down because their manager hasn't got the requisite qualifications?

From what i am led to believe Stu the F.A.I can deem him to be up to the job to manage in Europe and that covers that end of things.By all accounts the FAI have told Dundalk the place is ours and that is the long and short of it.

Only issue to be resolved is where game takes place
Only another 9 titles till Drogheda become pride of county louth!!!

They could be turned down for any number of reasons*. I wouldn't be surprised if Sligo have been asked to apply too (on the basis that if Dundalk's application is refused, they'd still need a team). Pats were asked to apply before Shels wen officially ka-booom in 2007 (just in case)

I'm sure Dundalk will have Pats, Bohs and Tallaght Stadium all vying to host the games in their place.

*I'm not suggesting this is likely, just pointing out that its big enough application with a lot of financial stuff etc to be presented

Should be there any second now...

Isn't there a rule about playing European matches in your own jurisdiction too? I think one of the Welsh teams had problems when they tried to play in Chester or something like that.

Linfield played their 'home' game v us in Holland in 1979 and also Shels played Rangers at Tranmere Rovs in mid 90`s, then again one was security related and the other as Linfield were barred from playing the return leg in Windsor park, and wouldnt play the game in Ireland, think the ruling was it had to be 150 miles from Belfast = outside NI !

Anyway back on topic hopefully we can install 1,700 or so seats in time and adhere to the other conditions.

The FAI have only nominated you as one of their representatives to compete in the Europa League- Dundalk FC still has to pass what is in the UEFA Licensing to be allowed compete.

You are completely correct. That is the position for all four clubs nominated - Bohs, Shamrock Rovers, Sporting Fingal and Dundalk.

I suspect that what Shep means is that Dundalks place is assured (as with Bohs, Rovers and Fingal) subject to meeting the UEFA Licensing criteria. Whether Oriel Park can be taken to Euro standard in the time available is a bigger ask.l
