I think it's quite clear from his post that wasn't what he meant.

The ground won't be a problem at all, if necessary other stadia can be used. The issue is whether or not UEFA give dispensation in regards to Ian Foster. It would be interesting to see if there is precedence for this.

We passed it no problem, best of luck to Dundalk .... do us proud
Hunky Dorys Park - could be worse, we could be going to Old Trafford every other week

Cost will most likely be the main hurdle if the game can be played at home, a working group is already set up, so it wont proceed past this if its not feasable.

If it does get the nod, it may happen very quickly, our owner is a builder, he managed to erect the new shed over a weekend a few years back. Also he got other structural jobs done very quickly that wouldnt necessarily be seen by all eyes, lilke a new roof on the stand, new panels at each side, new dressing rooms/toilets built where the home terracing is, stand side. Currently the club appear to be doing some work on the laneway leading up to the away terracing, so a lot of jobs on the go, not to mention the completion of the youth accademy/underground carpark.

But as I said, its all about costs, if it can he done, he will get it done. I`m sure we`ll find out next month if the big upgrade with the extra 2,000 or so seating to be installed is going ahead or not.

For me, this presents a great opportunity to have the ground upgraded, so fingers crossed it will happen.

08 MARCH 2010: DUNDALK SET FOR EUROPA CAMPAIGN

Dundalk FC have received confirmation from the FAI that team manager Ian Foster has been accepted for the next UEFA Pro License coaching course – being run the English FA – after recently successfully completing his A License qualification. The course, which commences this summer, will enable the club to comply with the UEFA coaching requirement set down for all team managers whose club competes in the UEFA club competitions.
Gerry Matthews, Dundalk CEO said “we are very appreciative of the efforts of the FAI, and have no doubt that their recommendations and support for Ian’s Pro License application played a major part in securing this coveted place on the English FA course. The next FAI Pro License course would not be in time for this year’s Europa League, and I was delighted to receive the call this morning from John Delaney relaying the good news”
“While our Project Team are still hard at work on the feasibility and logistics of taking Oriel Park up to UEFA standard, it is not yet clear that the necessary work can be completed in the available time span. We have a passionate desire to hold the first home game in early July in Oriel Park; we will be in a better position to make a decision on both the time and cost issues in the next fortnight, when we have analysed the stadium engineers report. But right now, it’s time to check on the passports and get ready for Dundalk’s first European adventure since 2002!”
Dundalk first matches in the Europa League are set for July 1 and July 8, and should progress be secured, will play in the next round on successive weeks on July 15 and July 22
