    What about the donation?

You might say that;I couldn't possibly comment.
Quoting Francis Urquhart, a fictional (and superbly played) British politician.......I'm surprised!

(alternatively, you could just go back to Andytown again!)

But where I would disagree with you, is that they always seem to accentuate the negative and you have to be 'allowed to stand in the kitchen', unless you are totally unreasonable, to conduct such a debate in the first place......
They don't want to hear a differing opinion.
I suppose it all depends on one's debating style.......eh?

The donation's still there;Potentially doubled if you, or another, wish to post up the earlier map.

As for Urquhart, it's a Scottish name, so just about acceptable. And can't assume the the AA mantle, as there are geographical issues too wordy to explain here. Maybe, elsewhere some day. As with much else.

And any 'debating style' , will let my peers be my judge.
    Runs for cover.

I'll just assume the association then.

Though, I suppose.....when you think about it....... why would a person move to Ardee, when Andytown's such a nice place?

Assume as you wish. But on this one you're wrong!

As for NB, I'm sure he can deal with it?

It may sum up your feelings KK but it's scarcely an unbiased appraisal of the facts. It's also littered with factual inaccuracies and downright mischievous falsehoods.
IFA is a British football association which is supported almost exclusively by hardline loyalists.
in my limited experience of them this is simply not true. They'd be overwhelmingly, though not exclusively, Unionist for sure -but "hardline loyalist" with all that that implies (tacit support for paramilitarism etc). They're just not. More likely to find his hardline loyalists cheering for En-ger-lund.
The stadium Windsor Park is located in a staunchly loyalist area of Belfast and is draped in union jacks on match days.
If he's not talking exclusively about NI match days then he's being fork-tongued. Giving him the benefit of a doubt that he is -then he's simply wrong. Very few UJs in windsor these days. The only one that sticks out in my mind is one done up in blue whilte and green.
It is well documented the abuse that catholic Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc received as were the riots that ensued against the catholic Polish supporters
It is well documented that elements within the "catholic Polish supporters" kicked it off and kept it going long before match-time and some considerable distance from WP. Nobody rioted against the catholic Polish supporters. It is also well documented that Artur Boruc had a howler and left the strong impression he couldn't save pennies in a jam jar.
" I wish to God that someone would be able to block out the voices in my head for five minutes, the voices that scream, over and over again: "Why do they come to me to die?"

Thanks for that LR (though you do realise that that post makes you a fully paid-up "West Brit (Official)"?

Anyhow, the article as written was so obviously composed by some idiot who has never been to a single NI match in his (her?) sad little life that I couldn't be arsed to comment on it originally.

However, just to demonstrate what a pr1ck the Author really is, in order to justify his naked prejudice, he originally claimed that "The stadium Windsor Park is located in the heart of Loyalist East [sic] Belfast".

But when someone/something drew his attention to his geographical ignorance, rather than acknowledge his mistake, or excise the comment completely, he replaced it with: "The stadium Windsor Park is located in a staunchly loyalist area of Belfast etc"

Perhaps he hoped we wouldn't notice?

P.S. For information, WP is in South Belfast, which is the most mixed (and middle-class) area of the entire city. And although one side of the Stadium backs onto a Loyalist enclave called the Village, all the main approaches to Windsor (car, bus, foot etc) are from other directions, which is why in 40 years of attending matches, I have never once chosen or had to go through the Village.

In fairness, there's been a much better analysis of virtually every aspect of the facts and opinions surrounding this situation in this thread; this particular blog entry isn't a great summation of that. It's only a blog. Anyone can maintain a blog these days.

Further update on KK's remarkable find:

Cliftonville, a team whose support is now almost excusively Nationalist, are unable to play Thursday's Europa League game at their home ground, Solitude. Guess where they've chosen to play it instead?

Yep, a certain stadium called Windsor Park, sometime home of Linfield and "located in a staunchly Loyalist area of Belfast".

Strange one, that, all the more since whilst WP is accessible/acceptable to them as Reds fans, it somehow ceases to become so (as Nationalists) when NI play there.

P.S. The reason why Solitude is unavailable is because they are currently installing a new state-of-the-art 3G all-weather pitch, following generous funding from those Loyalist Orange Bigots at the IFA:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...sh/8728144.stm
P.P.S. At least the Reds will be able to work on the new pitch round-the-clock, now that they've installed modern new floodlights at Solitude, following more funding from those LOB's at the IFA:
    "HERALDING A BRIGHT NEW ERA
The Club is pleased to announce that its application to the IFA for funding for new floodlights has been successful. Cliftonville are one of three clubs to have been awarded 95% funding towards a new floodlight system.
Subject to planning permission, the Club anticipate that work on the new floodlights should commence in the summer and we hope to have them ready for early in the 2008/09 season.
The new lights will be UEFA standard and capable of generating the 800 lux required for European games as well as for any live televised matches.
This is a very significant step towards the Club achieving Domestic and UEFA Licence standards for the stadium at Solitude and the Club is grateful to the IFA for its assistance and support"

    http://www.cliftonvillefc.net/newsmay08.html
P.P.P.S. All a shame, really, since I'm sure would have loved to accommodate their Visitors in the new Away Stand at Solitude, completed in 2008 with financial assistance from, let me see, some bunch of LOB's calling themselves the IFA...

How many UEFA compliant stadiums are there in Belfast? Did that influence Cliftonville's decision? Given that Cliftonville have chosen to play league games in Celtic Park in the recent past, maybe grounds other than Windsor were preferred but were not "available"?

With Howard Wells fresh in the mind, the above could read as a list of IFA payoffs down the years. But good to see the IFA has deep pockets.

Are you aware that the Loyalist entrances to Windsor park have always been unaccessable to Cliftonville fans. The visiting fans can only access the ground via the Boucher Road, along a cage covered dirt track, across Midgley Park before reaching the turnstiles at the back of the North stand.

The 3g pitch is being 100% funded by the FIFA Goal Investment Programme.

The new floodlights were funded to the tune of 200k by the UEFA HatTrick II Assistance Programme.

The away stand at Solitude was built nine years ago at the bowling green end , not 2 years ago.

Don't use Wikipedia for all your research eg.

I presume you (and Wikipedia) are talking about the new home stand at the cage end of the ground opened in 2008. The 1650 seater stand was totally funded by sportni.

There is no such thing as a Loyalist entrance to Windsor Park. There are 3 entrances, Lisburn Road, the Village and the Boucher Road.

Visiting fans ALWAYS use the Boucher Road, no matter who it is. This is not bias against Cliftonville.

In the case of a neutral game, there are numerous clubs that won't have access to the Lisburn Road entrance. Glentoran do not get access to that entrace as the Police will not put Glenmen up the Lisburn Road. Cliftonville cannot use that entrance as it's too close to the Village.

Cliftonville have also opted to play home games at Seaview (which in case you don't know is on the Shore Road -a much more staunch loyalist area than South Belfast) for the start of this season, so what's your point caller?
