Woops bit late posting.....
Makes little sense, the takeover is dependent on a Licence. The Licence is dependent on the Revenue and others being paid?.The Independent Club Licensing Committee has deferred its decision on Cork City until after the High Court case comes in for mention on Monday, February 22nd next.
In making its decision, the Independent Club Licensing Committee noted that one of the fundamental principles of club licensing is the protection of creditors such as club employees, other clubs and the Revenue.
The Independent Club Licensing Committee was made aware of a potential takeover which may result in commitments to creditors being honoured. As this takeover is dependent on the outcome of the High Court order, the Independent Committee felt it prudent to await that outcome and give maximum opportunity for creditors to be paid.
The application from FORAS has been deferred pending the outcome of the Cork City decision.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Disgusting from the FAI. Horrible horrible horrible bunch of human beings.
Lets redefine what it means to heal
Ah... So they did bottle it...
The License should be dependant on the criteria and deadlines set. This is a farce. I pity any side trying to prepare for a season with this kind of leadership shown by the league.
A complete joke. We should have been flat up denied one today and given it to FORAS in the First. I ****ing hate the FAI
maybe no decision now until next monday?
This is getting beyond a joke.....
It sounds like if the takeover takes place and all money paid then they will get a premier licence. The FAI MIGHT then give Cork a points deduction . If the independent commitee grant cork a licence can the Fai then refuse them a place in the league as punishment?
For those who couldn't be bothered clicking on the link:
14 Premier licences granted - Bohs, Bray, Dundalk, Drogheda, Galway, Longford, Mons, Shels, Shams, Sligo, Pats, Fingal, UCD and Waterford
7 First Division - Athlone, Derry, Harps, Limerick, Mervue, Salthill and Wexford
5 A Championship - Castlebar, Cobh, Carlow, Tralee and Tullamore
"Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins."
"Homer Simpson, smiling politely."
So what happens if Cork City FC get a premier licence?
Don't then they have to be punished for the crap Cork City FC done over the 2009 season?
A change of owner doesn't mean Cork City FC are great again!
Shels had a change of owner the year they rid us rock solid.. all before 65% and when we had deals in place and paid our revenue debts before the High Cout date.
This really is crazy stuff from the FAI

You know, reading through the cop out that is the loi release, it actually can league to something very positive.
1. 14 teams have Premier licences, leave them all in the Premier - a 12 team league played on 4 rounds (top 8 and bottom 6 divide after 2 rounds) with each club playing 32 games. What you do to spice it up is have the points of all sides after the first two rounds (as an option) or basically it means the top eight sides have a chance to fight for Europe while the bottom six can trim budgets etc - built in clauses for player salary reduction and so on.
2. 12 teams currently have 1st and A licences, throw them all in together, add Cork in and you have a decent league.
3. Run a league below the top 2 with reserve sides and any other potential sides looking for promotion to the top 2 leagues.
Just a thought

Will the takeover proceed without Cork having been awarded a Premier Licence?. If there was even the off chance that they weren't going to be awarded the Premier Licence would these guys pay over their money to the other creditors and get them paid off before Monday?. It's still a ridiculous decision either way. Prudent me hole. Cowardly more like.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Are there not 14 Premier licences?
