I was covering the QPR v Ipswich match last night and spotted Marco Tardelli in the posh area near Mr Briatore. I asked Roy Keane a few questions after and he seemed a bit surprised Tardelli was there. He went on to praise Damien Delaney who looks much better at centre back and also singled out Daryl Murphy. I think Jon Walters has a chance for the squad for the Brazil match - well capable of playing in the Premier League. Garvan played left mid and put in a good shift.
I see Garvan was taken off after 65 minutes, despite, as you say, he put in a good shift. I guess he is just not Keane's type of player. I would love to see him get into the squad along with a few of the other candidates like McCarthy, McCann and a few others, and dispense with the likes of Miller and a few others.

Marco Tardelli apparently spends alot of time in that neck of the woods anyway. Walters, Murphy, Delaney, Norris, Garvan, Ephraim & Connolly..there's no one there that should be in the Irish panel IMO. There are enough of the Martin Rowlands types there already.

"One of ours" says the chap that supports three international sides.
For the record, Walters has been capped at U21 level and played in a B international not too long before Trapattoni's appointment. Those within the set-up are well aware of Walters but have judged that there are numerous other players that are better than Walters in his preferred position(s). I doubt Roy Keane cares and why would he?

By "set up" I mean Tardelli, Brady and Trapp and I still doubt whether they have collectively put in enough time to have an informed view about all our playing options. Took them long enough to watch and promote Sledge. Still mystified by your reference to "three international sides" and as for the spelling correction get a life......
I think Daryl Murphy is a good player and is worth a shot in the senior squad considering Miller was picked when he had no club,Long was picked when not playing at Reading(good to see him playing and scoring again)..and Gibson,Stokes and other lads were continually picked on seemingly little merit.
Murphy looked very good against QPR and I'm sure Tardelli would have left impressed by his performance - he has made it clear that he wants to play as a striker and not on the left of midfield where he was used by Steve Bruce at Sunderland and his hold up play was very good but he should have got a hat trick with the chances he had. I must add that QPR were awful and have failed to keep a clean sheet for 18 matches. Hogan Ephraim does not have the quality to play international football and when I asked him about playing for Ireland it was pretty clear he would prefer the three lions - it will never happen for him although he can also play for Nigeria so he has options! I doubt Trap or Tardelli realise that Matt Connolly qualifies for us.
In fairness Robbie, Roy Keane also played Murphy on the left quite a bit while manager of Sunderland, so Bruce wasn't the one who thought that up.
Murphy is kind of a strange player...I don't mind him, but I don't know that'd he's good enough for the Premiership or our squad. One of those fringe players that you don't mind having around, but you wouldn't want to have to play in a big game.
Murphy's got a fantastic left foot on him. I'm surprised Trap didn't try him in the same role he eventually bestowed upon Liam Lawrence - very similiar players in a lot of ways. Murphy's never been a first-team player at Sunderland since they were promoted, though.
