where would i be without you?![]()
howd it go lads? many at it? by the way how many would you say were at the rovers game last week?
Lost 4-1. We were pretty competitive for most of the game just gave away some stupid goals. We used 19 players in all so there was a bit of a disjointed look to them in the second half in defence but they were trying to play decent football and could have had a couple more goals. Glynn got our goal which made it 1-1. The only trialists were a lad called Darren Forthy (that's how it was spelt on the team sheet anyway) and Niall O'Reilly.Ian Byrne was there too but Im guessing he must be signed at this stage given he's been playing in all of our games. Cork had a strong first eleven including George O'Callaghan and Kudozivic, Greg O'Halloran and Dave Rogers. Don't know who scored for them but I think Kudozivic may have got at least one. They only had three subs including a Liam Collins who is probably a relation of Roddy's.

with the lack of a stadium announcer it was very hard to fathom who was playing..To the best of my knowledge the first team were:
shanahan, tyrell,k cronin, deans,p byrne, lester, brady, mooney, hynes, glynn, mcdonagh subs: Ian Byrne,Conlon,Justin Perrin,Clarke, darren forthy(assume the big tall fellow up front for us wonder is it Darren Forsyth Niall O'Reilly.. Didnt see Darren Forthy on the teamsheet though?
Daisy took his goal very well.. I was talkin to Mickey Lee at the game and he confirmed to me that hes making a comeback next weekend against UCD... I get the impression with him that he wasnt going to comeback so soon but he must have his travel arrangments sorted for goin to Leixlip... I was delighted Justin made his senior debut in flansiro.. thought he played well when he came on.. Conlon was diabolical yet again when he came on as sub and was to blame for at least one of their goals..
The sporting fingal game isnt finalised as of yet for next weekend as fingal are waiting on FAI approval to host the match...
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Yeah he was wearing 14 when he came on. Could well be Forsyth spelt wrong alright but it's definitely spelt Forthy on the team sheet, I took a photo of it for reference purposes. Team according to the team sheet was Shanahan, Hyland, K Cronin, Tyrell, Philip Byrne, Lester. Brady, Mooney, Hynes, Glynn, McDonagh .Subs were Ian Byrne, Darren ?, Niall O'Reilly, Conlon, Deans, McArdle, Perrin, Clarke.

dean clarke came on centre half durin the 2nd half
If god wanted us to play football in the clouds he would have put grass up there!
Yeah I edited that, I'd forgotten him. Did reasonably well when he came on as well.

To add to more confusion on the Freeman saga I was talking to another lad at the game Sat and he said Freeman has definitely signed but has been out of action the past week or so with a cracked rib!!! So it all remains to be seen!!!
Have to agree with you Martinho. If Shanahan gets injured or suspended during the league we might as well hand the opposition the points or at least do what we did in Kildare 2 seasons ago and put one of our outfield players in goals!!! That third goal Cork got was hilarious!!! He would of got it only he pulled out of the tackle!!! Seriously he can't be that bad can he?!!!! He could just be letting on he's the worst keeper we've had since Kevin 'Bobo the Clown' McCormack and be an absolute legend with the club for years to come!!! Sorry lads wasn't in the country at start of last season to compare him to Brendan Murphy.
No one from Cork at it from what I seen. Would of been between 50-100 people at it. Probably closer to the 50 mark from where I was standing!!

If its a tall floppy haired dark headed bloke it has to be Forsyth, he recently released by Gateshead, he is utterly horrific with the ball at his feet but good in the air on the end of crosses

The Leinster Senior League needs a strong Bohemians
He fit that description yeah on all counts really. In preseason related news the UCD game is now on Wednesday at 8.00.

forgot to mention that I heard that too about Freeman..So the only person that I was out was Thomas Hyland for Chris Deans... You couldnt miss Deansy when he came on he was givin Dean Clarke awful grief in defence... I dont think I would agree with that sort of carryon...
in other news Mark Sammon who played for us against Pats played for Bray in preseason over the weekend.Ex town player Gary Curran played for Galway Utd up in the Brandywell.

Ya im after hearing that,Whys it changed? That keeper we brought on against Cork Is useless. he needs to be got rid of, or else get his eyes checked and learn when to swing his leg when hes kicking the ball. Thats the second time thats happened. i know it only pre season but it not good enough!!
When youve no expectations or standards to live up to how can you possibly go wrong!!!!!!
were playing sporting fingal saturday in leinster senior cup id imagine thats why its changed, id give conlon a bit of time he is still young and never played at this level before. Cronin didnt help him against cork with ths ridiculosly poor back pass

It's better to have a few days between the games anyway for the players sake as much as anything else. Less chance of injuries.

I am surprised nothing has being mentioned on our forum but a big well done to our club for getting the Premier Division licence.. Its a step in the right direction.. It has being a top class job by the exeutive committee and I would like to congratulate them on their feat as its not an easy thing to achieve these days so well done all!![]()
