Limerick Soccer Team of the Decade

The Leader had a good article in Monday's paper where Dolans Pub are sposoring a Team of the Decade.
It's repeated on limericksoccer.com for anyone who missed it.
For starters my team would be
Ian Bennis, Dave Dunphy, Keith Fitzgerald, Tom Daly, Brian Buckley, Albert Slattery, Jason Purcell, Keith Hartnett, Alan Finucane, Alan Barry, Robert Earls

    1.G Stewart keeper
    2.M Aherne Right Full
    3.A Sheehan Left Full
    4.Gareth Ryan Sweeper
    5.C Enright Center half
    6.B.Lawlor wide right
    7.Alan Carroll Attacking Mid-field
    8.J Purcell Holding Mid-field
    9.J O'Connor Striker
    10.A Barry striker
    11.C.Heffernan wide left

two fulls and two wide players among the best crosser's of a ball you might ever see
two strikers would have a field day.J.Purcell could protect back four with a.carroll going box - box

Kevin did win 3 FAIs though

Very difficult to do but players i feel have to be on the team would be Jason Purcell(Captain),Brian Buckley,Colm Enright,Alan Sheehan and Jason O Connor.

How do we threat players Like Colm Heffernan who is probably the best winger to play in that period of time but he spent the majority of the decade playing league of Ireland football. Also the likes of Tommy Barrett

Yeah i agree with you on that, it does say on the paper though that everything is considered whether the players won something or nothing or things like that. Agree with you about Heffernan, same too with Ross Cosgrave, good wingers and Tommy too, i'm sure they will all be considered equally. Its a good idea though this team of the decade and everyone has different names and ideas and one i just see mentioned there is Gareth Ryan, didn't even think of him but would definately figure. Its easy mention guys that won trophies and are household names but there are plenty of players who have played throughout the last ten years and never get their rewards, i suppose players like Robert Dalton, Phillip Collopy, Billy Tynan, just players like that

It would be interesting to see the people post their own teams of the decade for their own particular clubs and produce a final squad from them lists.
