KOH is right!
In today's Star it says that "the League coughed up �40,091 last season to cover security costs of the Hoops' home matches at Tolka Park."

WTF is that all about?
21 other clubs keeping the homeless afloat?
They're living on their history.
I'm sick of them now at this stage.
Let them sink.

Give it a rest. How much did Cork make from our "home" game at the Cross last season? If the FAI insist on doing security at our games then they pay for it, simple as that.

i was always of the opinion that the league needed Rovers but to be honest ye are an embarisment. nothing but trouble and i'm not just talking about your fans.

i'm sick to death of hearing about your latest predicament. go scrounge somewhere else

I am not stirring it but if Rovers have security issues, it should fall back on them to sort it out. It is not good enough to say "they insist on it" .... that is not a resolution to problem. Rovers need to be more problem solving.

The game in Cork has/had/wont have anything to do with it, why are you bring that up ?

It is the same story ... Rovers need to sort out "the element" that exists in their club. Until then ... everyone will suffer, namely clubs in and around the pale as they will fail to attract any new fans as a direct result.

Rovers need to solve their security problems, just as much as they need to solve all their other problems.

But, the league needs Rovers. It would be criminal to let a club with so much history and achievement go to the wall.

I should have made myself more clear. When we have had incidents, it's always been when the FAI are in charge of security. Our own security know the fans and act accordingly. FAI security causes problems and costs money.

I brought up the Turners X "home " game because far from costing other clubs, Rovers actually help other clubs make money ala CCFC last season. Ask Waterford, Drogheda, your own club etc, when we come to town, the locals show up - and that'll never change, despite the fact that we're total pish.

I agree ... but it is getting harder and harder to run a club in this league ... how many allowances can a club make nowadays. Not many.

All i am saying ... if the day were ever to come, i think we would all be stunned but no one could say they haven't been warned.

It is figures like the one quoted above that will sway the balance. The have to take responsibility at some stage. Sooner rather than later.

Obviously ... you'd try and help clubs, but if you end up being crutch then it can have adverse effects. Rovers need to take the bull by the horns and sort it out.

I much prefer a well organised, non-clandestine Rovers in the league as opposed to the Rovers that is there now.

It is good competition and quality football that should be the attraction not the possibility/probability of a ruck during the game.

When Hibs sacked Bucazzi (sp?) a group of Hibs fans got the train to mallow to meet up with the Rovers fans coming to Cork to get them to sign a petition, which they did.

Thats why Football in Cork was at such a low ebb for such a long time.

Its easy for us to forget but when City started up there wasnt much interest. In many ways the club survived by the skin of its teeth. However by surviving it grew into what it has become today. Imagine what would have happened if city had gone out of business? ramblers would be THE club in Cork

Exactly. Rovers need to get sorted out by either themselves or someone else. They're an embarrassment to the eL, and a waste of money clearly. I'd hate to see them go tough, as i think that Rovers games are some of the best of the season, and the rivalry is great. Problem is that it sometimes get more than rivalry into violence-which it shouldn't.

i still think the league needs rovers, I think the point that we get some of our biggest gates when they're in town is well made. The still draw fans and for that reeason it's in all our interest to have them therre and healthy. Unfortunately they are far from that at the moment, and i think the violence of a minority of their fans is not helping generate interest among possible investors.

they badly need to have an incident free season, or next season they might well find themselves homeless broke and with no one left willing to help. for the moment, i'm hoping they pull through.

Have to say guys, I would hate to see Rovers go down the Swanney.

The fixtures against them are my favourite of the season. The Waterford games are starting to get juicy now but you cannot beat the atmosphere when they come to town.

It just wouldn't be the same..........plus when was the last time they beat us at The Cross

Remember, they spawned the "Long Banners" in The Shed.

BTW, I met some older Rovers fans in The Horseshoe last season and they were as sound a bunch as you'll get.

The biggest problem in our league is the poor attndances.
Rovers are one of hte few clubs that can drag people out to see a game.
They are an asset to this league.

But, we need Rovers to sand up to the dodgy element wihtin the club. That's a job for the other fans and the club management. If they don't, then the club will never progress.

This cannot happen until they have their own ground.
Rovers are cash starved and therefore unlikely to stop any "fan" paying into their games regardless of the fact that they're known trouble makers.
Maybe now that Ken Bates is at a loose end he'll convert Rovers like he did Chelsea.
