crackin interview with the fellow that started our revolution...
in three weeks time will be the tenth anniversary of our promotion in Cobh!!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Cracking interview alright, fair play to Eamonn for doing it The manager speak is a welcome addition so far as well. I would have to pull up Mr Kenny on a couple of inaccuracies though, we never actually led the Premier Division, we could have gone top if we had beaten Finn Harps in December I think but we could only manage a draw, and this one is being pedantic but we beat Cork 4-1 not 4-0 and I'm pretty sure that was after the Lovech home game?. Though I'm open to correction on that as I was away that summer.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
yep longfordian you are dead right on the harps game .. I should have being at it that game was a midweek game after the original game was called off and I remember getting the updates from Shannonside.. 4-1 aginst cork does sound about right again I missed that game as I was up in Dublin...

yea remember that game..henry kenny scored twice for us and i think alan kirby scored the other 2, could be worng about kirby tho
we are going up
was'nt afwul just stupid mistakes
I hate this long ball, again and again! We should have scored in the first half, and maybe got a peno! The second half was sh!te!
If only we could defend, we didnt lose last night we beat ourselves, derry are poor!
If god wanted us to play football in the clouds he would have put grass up there!
Stonewall penalty. Long ball doesn't work often enough, and the quality of them aren't good enough. Stupid mistakes are bad performances. No one will remember tomorrow how well we played, they'll always remember the scoreline. Good performances won't get us anywhere if we are making the mistakes. I think that Glynn is the man to help us. He will score if he is given the service.
Watching the game in the first half, just one little I noticed, McDonagh was always free over the right wing. Glynn was the first one after about a half hour to pass it out to him. That lead to the penalty shout IIRC.
Sporting F*ck All!
mcdonagh was free but never called for it he stood were he wasnt going to be passes to?
Not the way I saw it. The first time it was given out to him, it lead to a proper goal scoring opportunity; so much so, they had to foul our player. This of idea of him not calling for it is no excuse. I'm sure he wants it, even if he doesn't shout for it! Glynn was the first to look up and pass it... If he wasn't shouting, he should have been.
What was Shanahan's idea of playing 25 yards away from goal for the first half?
Sporting F*ck All!
i taught shannahan did v well playing as a sweeper his kicking needs a bit of work thou
meh.. he was fine were he was standing he closed down the striker giving him less to aim at it was a very good finish..but he didn't stand tall he kind of crouched down?? needed to make himself big.. y was there no one at the edge of the box thou to pick the man up!? schoolboy error the towns u14 girls team wouldn't do that
there wasnt much he could do for the goals tbh but defiunitly agree with his kicking but he was very good at co9ming for the ball and helping the defence
I realy don't understand why we constantly have to watch so much long ball when a blind man can see that Hynes won't or can't head a ball and Glynn needs the ball to his feet to have any sort of chance ! Time for a change of playing style and Hynes needs to be dropped for a few games to sharpen up and work on what his roll in the team should be, he should be winning the ball for Glynn to work off him and score or ty to at least. Ekanem needs to be dropped also in my opinion as he does not look like he is ready for LOI football yet. On saturday he was doing hell of a lot of ball watching and was pulled inside to the centerhalf position way to many times leaving the Dery #11 fre on way to many occasions.
