    President's Cup

With the Leinster Senior Cup back, thoughts now turn to that other Cup run by the Leinster FA, the President's Cup. Does anyone have any memories of it? I thought it was a game between the league and cup winners - a bit like the Charity Shield. My dad says it was a game between the highest finishers from Leinster in both competitions.

We played Shelbourne in the President's Cup after winning the Cup in 2002 - that's my last memory of it. Lost 2-0 in Tolka if I remember correctly.

That was for the four sides in Europe; it ran for three or four years. We're the reigning champions, even though we were already out of Europe by the time the competition came around. Got dropped cos it wasn't needed once summer soccer came around.

Ran for 3 years. 198 which was played in Morton, and 1999 and 2000 which were played in Tolka.

Pats won in 1999. Rovers won in 1998

Presidents cup was supposed to be for League winners v Cup Winners but only confined to Leinster teams so some teams were invited if winners from outside Leinster. In sme years 4 teams qualified and they had 2 semi finals first.

Pats have won it 6 times. Last being in 96/97 when Dave Campbell missed final penalty for Shels. One of my favourite footballing memories

It was played in 2001 because LTFC played in it. I was in America at the time but I remember being told about it.

As many as eight teams played in the Presidents Cup but since the mid-70s it seems to have a been a one off. As has been mentioned it's restricted to Leinster teams and generally played between league and cup winners if both from Leinster. I think it's still continuing in a low key fashion.

Super Cup was contested four times.... don't believe everything (or anything) you read on Wiki

Wasn't wiki (I think I started that page). Just couldn't remember one in 2001 (or find mention of it)
