Not quite namedropping but just as much bullsh*t.

I knew this English Jew at work, Mark, who reckoned he was in the Israeli army. Officer of course and a tank commander. Didn't speak any Hebrew, but hey, they all understood English so what the heck. Reckons he missed out on 'earning a grand a day' in Angola as a mercenary.

Mark told me this while I was reading about an English mercenary in Croatia in the Guardian that was lucky to get a meal a day let alone a grand. Mark then bangs on about the Israeli army being the best army 'pound for pound' in the world. I've had enough at this stage and go into a rant - basically who have you fought?, armed by the US, etc - when he declares that the US sent this big f*ck off aircraft carrier in to take the West Bank in a training exercise and lost. I'm now laughing my cojones off, because as everyone knows - everyone except Mark - the West Bank is landlocked. He replies: 'Oh it must have been somewhere else?' Yeah. Perhaps it was the North Bank...or the clock end?

I won't even bore you with how he ended up in the Israeli army, Father. It basically involved four key elelments: Mark; a BNP meeting in SE London; lots of BNP casualties; and a midnight airlift to Tel Aviv (a la Entebbe) courtesy of the Israeli ambassador in London. Unsurprisingly he's a black cab driver now.

Frankly he's not the first I've met. I've had a few co-workers who were ex SAS, although of course if they told you they'd have to kill you!

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

I'll need to confirm the details of this with another colleague but when I was working in the UK there was this lad from the West Midlands who told stories so incredible it's hard to believe he was never commited to a mental institute.
He told us how his father was spy in the South Pacific and that he, himself was trained as a spy at the age of 12. He'd driven tanks in Fiji and a host of other crap.
Mental ilness doesn't seem to be taken seriously enough in Britain and Ireland.

Where was that lad shot the other day, in front of those playing kids? It must have been on the northside
Up by the Nutgrove Shopping Centre is another lovely area...
