Poor Longford, the return of the Spoofer.

Prepare for hoofball, and a blanket defence!

Ah no seriously, he'll probably do ok in the First Division. We played well in the second-half of the 2006 season under him. Ended up being joint top scorers at the end with Dundalk afaik. He just wasn't able to hack it in the Premier. Big budget, and bought badly. I think its hard to judge him on his spell with Kildare, as he only had a few weeks to work with them, and morale and confidence in that squad would have been low.

An interesting appointment, last chance saloon for Cousins as a manager maybe, if he fails here, there might not be too many clubs calling for his CV

Interesting. Cheers gufc. He wont have a lot of cash to work with so we'll see how he gets on. I'd actually forgotten that he got promoted with Galway in fairness to him.

Edit: I'd also forgotten they didnt go up on the field!

Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

He was full-time with Galway United too despite never living in Galway as he commuted by train. He continued to drive a taxi in Dublin which was his ultimate downfall, allegedly.

He looked good on the DVD though.

Oh my God, what a horrible thing to happen a nice club as Longford at any time of the ear, but particularly cruel so close to Christmas. Will keep you all in my prayers.

I didnt know that it was TC who got us promoted ? I thought it was a DVD that got us "hand picked" to play in the all new premier league run by the FAI ?

Wouldnt be as negative about him as most Galway Fans.Has a good eye for a Player as can be seen with Jayo & Gary Deegan and got slammed by certain members of the board after he left which has become the norm in Galway. He will do a good job but obviously like ourselves a small budget will hinder him.

If people went on Galway fans opinions of ex-managers in recent years, they'd never get another chance. More fickle than bohs. FACT.

You wanna talk about facts????? In answer to Mr A's poser:
Tony Cousins - managed to get Kildare relegated in 2-leg play-off with Mervue United
Jeff Kenna - walked out on Pats and now works as community officer with Birmingham City FC
    Ian Foster - we'll see
Not exactly a roll call of glory

With Galways successful recruitment policies in replacements since, I think I'll wait and see how he actually does in this job tbh rather than judge him. Is it the managers or the club?

Probably a bit of both to be honest Macy - club's budget is shockingly low, so managers left to work miracles on scraps. My problem with Cousins is he played a horrid brand of football with a massive budget, and we are still paying for the financial folly now. Kenna thought he was Fenlon, Keely and McLaughlin rolled into 1 after less than a fulls eason here and was found out when he moved to a bigger club.

The budget (and the resulting financial implications) are those in charge of the clubs fault not the managers - like players taking the highest possible wage, managers will always want the highest possible budget. It's up to the clubs to say no - if they say yes that's their responsibility.
