Facebook group here. It's 2nd favourite down the bookies. Who'd have thought it? Hope it happens....
Rage have championed the cause of the Zapatistas in Mexico, protested, against war and censorship, campaigned for Mumia Abu Jamal and Leonard Peltier but now they face their greatest challenge yet.....keeping Simon Cowell and the X-Factor away from the christmas number one spot.

'Fascists dress in black and go round telling people what to do, where as priests.....'
Got sent this a few times on facebook, can't see it happening as it means hundreds of thousands copies of "Killing in the Name" single will have to be bought in less then 2 weeks and as most RATM fans will have the song either in single or on the album it seems a bit of a non-runner to me

I can't believe RATM eventually sold out and are trying to get a Christmas Number 1 via an internet campaign.
I'd quite happily download it a few times.Especially if they do pick Journey's 'Don't Stop Believing' as the X factor Song.
Cork City: Making 'Dream Team' seem realistic since 2007.
Have Killing in the name of on cd but will gladly buy the single to keep X-Factor off the number 1 spot.
Will also be good to have a decent tune on the radio rather than X-Factor.
By the way - Joe to win, oh my God he's like soooo class. Now where's the Smilies that's head blows up? ->
i'd like to see a foot.ie version of this....
the most infracted poster sings RATM's "Killing in the Name" and DaHamsta sings Sinatra's "My Way".
Id buy both.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Not quite. Needn't sell a single traditional hard copy CD single in the shops if enough people buy it online.
As others have pointed out RATM have pretty much nothing to do with this initiative so there aren't a significant amount of copies of the hard copy single in circulation (try "nineties/rock/alternative" in your local 2nd hand shop). I'm not a RATM fan per se but I'm sticking a euro in all my xmas cards to to my UK based cousins and asking them to get in on the act. Better have the strains of RATM deep throatin me all christmas long than some x factor gimp.
" I wish to God that someone would be able to block out the voices in my head for five minutes, the voices that scream, over and over again: "Why do they come to me to die?"
I came in here to post the link to the facebook campaign as I have been meaning to do for ages. I think it is deadly craic.
Will download it myself and told my sons to do so too but they responded with "f*** you I wont do what you tell me".
Actually they didnt, they would never talk to me like that. I would whoop their butts if they did!
I see Simon Cowell has come out saying that this campaign is "cynical"! Pot calling kettle black me thinks!! He says we are punishing those who are in x factor and calling the people who watch it stupid. Well Doh Mr Cowell!
The whole thing plays into Simon's hands though: RATM are on Epic, which is a subsidiary of Sony BMG, who Simon Cowell is one of the top men.
Big bonus all round for him then, win or, errrrr, win....
And it's a ****e song. In my opinion you're becoming just as mindless by signing up to this group and buying the single as the people that invest time and effort into turning someone into a star. You don't give a crap about the top 40 for 51 weeks a year, why bother for the Christmas number 1? Spend some money on local music over Christamsa, they'll need it far more than either Simon Cowell the TV personality or Simon Cowell the record impresario.

I am sure the more people who buy RATM the more people will buy X Factor and Simon Cowell is onto a win win. Its a case of competition of lifting all boats.
In Trap we trust
I've always hated that Rage Against The Machine track, such whiny, petulant nonsense, so I'm hoping Geordie Joe wins this battle
Obviously I won't be involved because who over 12 bothers buying singles any more?
RATM ahead on sales as of 6pm today![]()

Yes but unfortunately X-factor single out on cd today which will probably put it back it the lead
