That's awful I think. Unless he was carrying a booking going into the match there's no point in punishing with any more than that.

Love the way FIFA are flaunting the fact that they make up rules as they go along yet were quick to point to the refs infallibility in the aftermath.

I think you're missing the point twoenz. It's not a retrospective booking, it's a ban for unsporting behaviour which FIFA has dished out in the past.

"The disciplinary commission is an independent organ," said a Fifa spokesman. "It will decide if the case is of interest. The possibility exists of sanctioning a player for unsporting behaviour on the basis of video evidence."

"...the more apt parallel is with Mauro Tassotti, who was banned for eight games by Fifa after elbowing Spain's Luís Enrique during a World Cup quarter-final at USA 94. The incident had been missed by the referee.

Similarly, Marco Materazzi, the controversial Italian defender, was handed a two-match ban and fined €5,000 (£4,500) for inciting France's Zinedine Zidane to butt him in the 2006 World Cup final after a panel reviewed footage of the game."

Do you think he deserves a two or an eight game ban? I guess he'd grin and bear the former.

I think you're missing the point, the example above highlighted in the piece is far from apt, it would have been red card offence if noted at the time by the referee. If the referee had seen Henry's handball, it would have been a yellow. That it has cost us hugely isn't really relevant to a ruling on the incident.

If a ban was given, it's be appealed and overturned very quickly.
