    Computer freezing.

as soon as i get into windows the computer just freezes. Before this it would just shutdown when streaming certain videos online. I couldn't understand why but after about a min of streaming it would just shut down. Now when i start up, log onto windows, when the desktop is loaded it just freezes. NO keyboard response, no ctrl + alt + delete.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Can you start it in safe mode?

If yes, what should i do.
If yes, back up your files and get some security stuff running: virus scanner, ad-aware, trojan scanner.

If no, what should i do?!
Depends. If there's nothing on the computer you'll miss, format the hard drive and reinstall Windows. Otherwise, you may need to get a professional to take a look.

The online video freezing is odd, could be a hardware problem. If you're up to it, open up the computer and reseat everything that can be reseated, in particular the video card and RAM.

ya i am ill try that so for a bit of craic and see how i get on. the video streaming i meant would cause the computer to freeze and then just shutdown.

I want the stuff for a hard drive, so was thinking of getting a usb convertable caddy.

I know how to start windows in safe mode!!! I meant as in i couldn't remember if i had tried it as ive been on the girlfriends laptop the whole time.

That happened to me once and I reseated the RAM and it worked. Had to restart system twice though, but it fixed the freezing issue.
Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

put it on or near a radiator - should help with the freezing.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

my laptop used to have a problem crashing whenever I ran a game with high-res graphics, Doom3 was guaranteed to do it
Had to replace the heat sinks for the graphics card and it's fine now.

Take a backup as soon as you can to be sure. If you can't get it running, take the drive out and put it into another computer as a secondary drive.
