    sligo 1 longford town 2

it wasnt a bad game overall, extremely physical! sligo took the lead early on after stephen paisley brought down a sligo player in the box and Ian rossiter scored the penalty! longford goals came from stephen paisley and eric lavine!
Ian Rossiter was then takin off (before he was sent off) which resulted in some of our players having a go so they had to be separated by "security".
overall a good game to have played before the season starts!!

There was a very good crowd at the game. Around 400-500 of them were there. There was a huge Town sport-roughly 50-50 each. Thought it was a disgrace being charged ten euros. Cant believe Levine scored from a header. At one stage in a ten minute spell, there must have being ten balls blasted into the next field!

Sligo is a class drinking town. Drank in Harlows across from the ground before the match to watch the rugger and came into the match in time to see Rossiter score from his penalty. We went to O Neills afterwards and it is a very well known pub as their flag is seen at the irish soccer matches. Was made very welcome by the locals.

The Showgrounds have changed a sight from when I was last there. Their shedend has being knocked down due to the uefa licence requirment. Plus as well they have a new stand built around four years ago which stretches the whole length of the pitch. I had to laugh when the sligo pr announcer said all stewards to prematch conditions! In all fairness we are not Shamrock Rovers!

Hopefully we will back at this ground again fairly soon and not another ten years as it was previously.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

The new(ish) stand is class.Good longford crowd.Dessie threatened from every set piece.Thought barrett looked very rusty.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
