Time to have FAI Cup final earlier in the year

In recent years the FAI cup final ahd been affected with really bad weather conditions that can influence and spoil the game. I think its time for the FAI and powers that be to think about trying to get earlier date. What do you all think?

you couldnt be more right. kids had to withstand that freezing cold with wind and rain yesterday and were charged 20/25 yo yo's at that. tallaght staduim is fine spot but the covering on stand is totally in ineffective. the roof is far too high and the rain just comes straight in on ya. the final yesterday was somewhat ruined because of the weather. it would have been a far prettier game of football if played earlier in the year.

Yeah definitely would be a good idea to have it earlier in the year, but not too early... Don't like the idea of the cup being over half way through the season

agree 100%..not just sour grapes from yesterday..was at the 2007 final in the RDS Longford v Cork..which i think was actually in December and it was even colder than yesterday...ridiculous....even if it was held in October it wouldnt be as bad and there wouldnt be much of the season left.

If next years Cup Final was played as the first football match in the Aviva Stadium, a capacity crowd would be likely.

Have the final between end september and mid october would just mean starting the competition a month to six weeks earlier than at present. Might not get dry weather but you certainly wouldnt get freezing november wind and rain, bound to attract a few thousand extra neutrals cause if you wernt a fan of either team nothing would have enticed you out yesterday in that weather to watch the game.

Im not a fan of summmer overall so mine will be from a different angle.but after been in Tallaght yesterday I have never set through a game in worse conditions than that. With it be a final you had alot of young chidren and familys there from early in the day.Was so so bad from a spectators point of veiw done nothing to attract people back.also it was so cold that when the final whistle went even with the disappointment of losing people were to cold to watch the medals and cup been presented which in hindsight looked like sour grapes.

Our last four showpeices have been ruined by this .It really needs to be changed!
    Till d End!

I've been saying this for years, the last spring final was us v Bohs in 2002, a glorious sunny blue sky day in tolka. Im not suggesting all dates pre November will be sunny, but there is more chance of fine weather during the summer, there is no reason why the final cant be played in August for eg. Have the cup rounds earlier, maybe have the final on either the Aug bank hol or last w/e to keep clubs going a bit longer, strecthing the season out, either way it has to return to the longer days. November is a joke, one of the main reasons we changed to summer football in the first place.

    FAI cup final in August

16 team Premier (traditonal home and away twice)

    This is the future !

Think it should be in August/early September time. Terrible conditions in the Winter but at the same time don't want it over too early in the season because if teams have nothing to play for early on and the cup is over then there's nothing to really look forward to.

Nah, keep it where it is. It's supposed to be the finale of the season.
We've had bad luck with the weather over the past few years. It has been shocking, but it's not normally as bad it has been.
Have you ever won the treble?

The weather is a hit and miss over here anyway. It might be warmer if played earlier but it could still be wet.
Is there a time frame to fit in it in earlier? i also think its more suited at the end of the season. Should the season start earlier and finish late october?

Nope, i would'nt like to see the final being moved to earlier in the season. The cup final is an event that should be played at the end of a season and should be played here in November regardless of the weather. Look at the 2006 final between Pats and Derry, that was a cracking game played in terrible weather but it finished 4-3 to Derry.

It has to be the season finale for me, its just unfortunate that its always played in poor weather. Moving it just devalues it for me.

Start the season in mid February until mid October and run the Cup from late March until then. The weather normally breaks in around end October / start of November so the season would be finished by the time the atrocious weather arrives.

I do agree however that we have been unlucky with the weather but we need to ensure the best conditions for players and fans alike.

Just be patient fella's next years final will be in Lansdowne, so no more of these shenanigans.
The main problem was just the wind, in Lansdowne even the windiest day wouldn't really effect the game imo, due to the design of the ground etc.
