    March friendly in Poland?

I read in one of the Sunday tabloids that we have a friendly lined for March in Poland. This was the first that I'd heard of it. Does anybody have further information on this, i.e. date and venue?

It would be cold at that time would need plenty of homemade produce to keep warm

I asked my polish mate he checked the polish websites and saw nothing. Legia Warsaw are building a new stadium so maybe they want to play one when it opens in there.

Apart from the fact we owe Poland afriendly after they came to Croke Park.

March 3rd is the official friendly international date, but there is some talk of moving midweek internationals from the traditional Weds to Tuesdays.

Poland have 5 stadiums in use for the Euro 2012, so it will be played in one of them and Ryanair fly to all bar Warsaw - and Aer Lingus fly there.

No disrespect to Poland but we always seem to be playing them. Something that goes back about 40 years.

Cheers folks. I've never been to Poland so I'd definitely be interested in going.

Few of the Euro 2012 venues will be ready in March 2010. Warsaw, Gdansk and Wroclaw won't be finished until 2011, Poznan currently holds only 17,000 during rebuilding.

As you know, we played there in Chorzow (the country's biggest stadium until Warsaw is finished) in September- but the game was originally planned for the much smaller venue in Szczecin.

Wasn't the story always that the FAI blazers used to go for the "night life" back in the pre Iron Curtain days? Maybe some of them have girlfriends they haven't seen in a while!

Dunphy used to tell a story about the constant trips to Poland in the old days and how all the blazers would cop off with local madams for the price of a bottle of vodka, which in those days was fairly cheap.

Paul Rowan's 'Team That Jack Built' speaks of the Bydgozcz friendly in 1981. The FAI told the team we'll see you later. They never left Warsaw. Most of these were dirty old men with wives who wouldn't do it with the lights on let alone have a BJ. The FAI's moved on since then.

Do we? We only played them recently enough in a boring 0-0 draw if memory serves, I was under the impression that the Croker friendly was them returning the fixture to us.
