A bit of a mad update thanks to Malta Today:
Greens puzzled by Irish reports by William Attard
Floriana FC have issued a statement regarding the Roddy Collins - Cork City situation. The club have made repeated unanswered calls to Cork City offices and officials and not received a response.
"In relation to reports in an Irish newspaper on Friday Floriana FC have requested an answer from Cork City FC as to whether they have made an approach to sign Roddy Collins. Mr. Collins is contracted to Floriana FC until the end of the 2009-10 season and is currently considering an extension to his contract that will run until the end of the 2011-12 season. We have made repeated calls to Cork City offices and officials and not had any response. It is highly unethical that reports such as this emerge when there has been no approach or contact with the club in question. We aim to have a resolution to this situation on Monday."
Collins who after a difficult start has overseen a revival in Green fortunes thanks to the belated signing of National Team skipper Brian Said, has not responded to requests for clarification though was satisfied with assurances given from the Floriana management despite not having achieved stated targets in his contract. Floriana take on Msida today at 2pm at Paola.
Roddy 4 Taoiseach
Joe Gamble is appearently over in Hartlepool and probably is going to sign tomorrow.
Kenny will be talking to Gerard Doherty this week, who he thinks will stay.
McGlynn seems to be signing for Bohs "Bohs want to sign McGlynn and it looks likely that he will be leaving" - Kenny, in the Derry News.
Deery and Stewart have been approached by Shamrock Rovers.
Ger O'Brien is in talks with Fingal, Motherwell and Falkirk.
Actually, the FAI compliance officer has to go through ALL clubs accounts (to make sure no club cheats by presenting last years accounts (again) - ring any bells ? ). But you keep dreaming that only Bohs accounts are checked if it makes losing the League sooooo much easier for you![]()
The question related to Bohs specifically, mb - stop getting so wound up when the answer relates to Bohs specifically.
Farren in today's Derry Journal, "I don't want to play for any club other than Derry City", then goes on to say that Foster was in contact with him about moving to Dundalk.
Two issues being mangled into one?
1) All clubs are assessed for compliance against the SCP at the end of the season
2) Bohs have had a transfer ban in place for much of the season, as either their management accounts at a point in time indicated that they would breach the SCP or the FAI didn't have confidence in the accuracy of those management accounts and therefore suspected the SCP would be breached.
I look forward to seeing the carpark increase in value again this year in the audited accounts.......
According to todays Irish SUN the FAI expect this week to ratify Bohs accounts for November thus clearing the way for the transfer ban to be lifted. Bohs have agreed renewed deals with Heary, Shelly Deegan,Keegan and Cronin. contracts have also been agreed with Murphy (small club in Wicklow) O'Connor (bigger club in Wicklow) and Cretaro (the real Rovers).
Incidedentally PS, the issue was about compliance procedures and I explained why the FAI have to check each clubs accounts, whether people like it or not the "activities" indulged in by SRFC historically are a factor in the current process.
not to drag the issue (further) off thread but according to the "Irish Star" SRFC have dropped their complaint about Bohs accounts. I look forward to some on here doing likewise.
