    Scottish clubs chase Derry trio

Stephen Kenny says Ger O'Brien is attracting interest from Motherwell

The possibility of a player exodus from Derry City appears to be increasing with three of the first team squad being linked with moves to Scotland. Ger O'Brien is attracting interest from Motherwell, Sammy Morrow is thought to be a Kilmarnock target while Ruaidhri Higgins is on trial at Aberdeen.
Gareth McGlynn, Barry Molloy and Thomas Stewart are among others being linked with moves away from the Brandywell.

Cash-strapped Derry were expelled from the League of Ireland last month.
This was after the Football Association of Ireland ruled that the Candystripes had been guilty of operating a dual contracts system at the club.

Derry players did not receive any wages for the final 10 weeks of the season and this means that they are all now effectively free agents.
The indications are that Derry will be permitted to play in the League of Ireland First Division next season but the club will be operating on a considerably reduced budget and several players are expected to quit the Brandywell.

Other players understood to be attracting interest from Irish League and League of Ireland clubs include Steven Gray, Kevin Deery, Gerard Doherty and Ciaran Martyn.

Derry manager Stephen Kenny, who agreed a new two-year contract last week, has said that Motherwell are looking to sign defender Ger O'Brien.
The 25-year-old is a right-back but can play anywhere across the back four.
"Ger has attracted attention from Motherwell," Kenny told the Derry Journal.
"At the minute I think that they are only able to offer him a deal until the end of the season but understandably he is holding out for something longer."

A number of local-based players are believed to be keen to stay on at the Brandywell outfit.
These include Eddie McCallion, David McDaid, Mark McChrystal, Shane McEleney and Peter Hutton, who could be set to continue his long Brandywell career.
In late October, it was announced that Hutton was being released by the club but amid Derry's financial problems, it now appears that the 36-year-old could be set to play First Division football for the Kenny's side next year.

Northern Ireland Under-21 international James McClean was on trial at Lincoln last week but he has returned to Derry and is understood to have expressed an interest in staying at the club.

ts hard to see Foster turning the Dundalk job down after all he has gone through this year with us
Would be a pain to see him go but he could have bolted with Kenna last year but did the honourable thing and stayed so he'll go with best wishes if he does leave.

Would be nice to hang onto a manager for longer than a season though. We seem to be changing them every year at the moment.

Honourable? He'd have been an assistant at best at Pat's, whereas by staying with Galway he got the manager's job.

This thread has lost it's way big time. Back on-topic lads, if you want the Sligo fan related banter, you have your own section, keep it there.

BOHEMIANS are waiting for FAI approval to announce their new signings.

Bohs had a transfer embargo imposed earlier in the year for falling foul of the Salary Cost Protocol and it has yet to be formally lifted.

Boss Pat Fenlon has agreed deals for keepers Barry Murphy and Chris O'Connor to join from Shamrock Rovers and Bray Wanderers respectively.

The defending champions will also land Raffaele Cretaro ahead of Rovers if the striker rebuffs a late bid from Sligo Rovers to hang on to his services.

Owen Heary, Brian Shelley, Conor Powell, Gary Deegan, Paul Keegan and Glenn Cronin have all agreed to re-sign for the Phibsborough outfit who are still in talks with Joseph Ndo.

All of those deals will be rubber-stamped once Bohs' accounts for this year and vastly-reduced budget for next year are approved

GLEN CROWE has turned down a move to Romania, SunSport has learned.

Crowe, 31, was wanted by an unnamed top-flight club in the country but has rejected the chance to pursue his career abroad.

The twice-capped striker is a free agent after he was released by Bohemians and has been linked to newly-promoted Sporting Fingal.

Fingal, meanwhile, are closing in on the signing of out-of-contract defender Gavin Peers.

Peers, 24, was a member of the Sligo Rovers team defeated by Fingal in the FAI Ford Cup final.

Dont see him joining Fingal, but i'll stand to be proven wrong. IMO hes our most important player, a good, strong, solid and even goalscoring defender. If he stays then we can hardly worry about our defence bar who partners him.
