I hope there's a clause that if he leaves before the new season that we get all the wages paid to him refunded...

That'd wanna be a joke, sounds daft.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

No question about Turners ability and I think Cook will see to it that Chris reduces greatly the number of cards he picks up, a bit like O Grady in this respect.

I'd be wary we will make the same mistake most other clubs have, flushing it away basically.

I'm not confident to be honest. Have a few quid riding on Fingal since the semi-final draw was made. But i hope to god we can do it.

i think a lot of people think we have it won already simply cos fingal in div 1. if they win the play off, confidence in their camp will be sky high. as dermot keely said today player for player they are best in 1st div and some of their players would walk on to our team. if will bee tough but our flair should win out

Just had a call from a Dundalk fan who is a friend of mine and I cannot put in writing here the language he used about Sligo taking Turner away, he said Chris was a big hero up there. Also said many Dundalk fans are furious that he was let go but glad he did not go to a Dublin club.

great signing. i criticised cook in transfer window for not signing a central midfielder and now he has gone and signed one of the very best, i for one never thought that he would come back so it is some coup for rovers. hopefully its not our only big signing

Players like Richie Ryan and Cash will see the final as a chance to set down a marker on Turner, Showing them that there not giving up there places without a fight.

    1. He is, with Deegan at Bohs, the best central midfielder currently playing in the league.
    2. Whilst our current midfield lacks nothing in passion (one of them misses out the cup final because of it), there are no goals coming from that sector. Turner scored twelve goals for Dundalk this season.
    3. He also brings an imagination to the sector which has been lacking and which will bring out the best in Morrison, Doyle and Raf (if he stays) What this will do to Blinkhorn with the resultant rate and quality of crosses can only be imagined.
    4. This is stating the obvious but if Chris Turner is playing with Sligo Rovers, then he is not playing against them. Evidence for that was when we led Dundalk 3 - 1 and ended up losing 3 - 4 thanks, almost entirely, to the efforts of Chris Turner.
    5. His arrival at the club is a signal of intent by Rovers. It may well be (along with a proper wage) the catalyst for keeping Raf at the club and will certainly help in bringing in some of the Derry players.

As to paying for him, I have the utmost faith in the current management committee and, in particular, Vincent Nally and there are quite clearly players who will be let go and there's no need to name names on that score.

On the negative side, there is something of the night about Chris Turner but then, I never saw a tactics board in a night club nor a DJ on the pitch so, as long as performances match the ability - and that is Paul Cook's job - we should not interfere in anybody's personal pursuits (except possibly to envy them).

My thoughts are that this signing is as significant as it is unexpected and I can begin to believe that we may well be challenging for league title next season.

Mind you, I'm still very worried about our chances in the cup final. Hope to see you there and you are welcome to share my hang sandwiches and red lemonade.

Even if he isn't taking the p1ss, I wouldnt be too bothered by it

What decent LOI club is going to employ Connor for the forceeable future, hes a bigger joke than Roddy at this stage.
Hes been with us, bohs and Dundalk. Shams would never touch him, who's left that can offer connor a half decent budget, which is what he needs to operate.
