Cheers. No point if Kildare cannot be saved as a LOI entity. Then again, just because there is no point, doesn't mean Delaney and his croneys won't insist it goes ahead

    More awful news.
Loved going to Station Road. Lovely people there, lovely feel about the place, handy spin from ours, compact, tidy little ground, nice bar, you could have a chat with the players warming up as you walked in, the soup stall was a great addition!
Kinda looked and felt the way a first division ground should if you know what I mean?
From what's been related here the players and fans of the club did themselves and the badge proud last night. It really is a tremendous shame that a club can't be run only on dedication like that.

Never mind the First Division - it'll be a farce if there's 3 Galways City teams full-stop.

At least the latest isn't also called United and also playing in maroon. Small mercies...

Is there some sort of official statement anywhere confirming that Kildare County have ceased to exist?

Is it just me or is that all it says? When I click on the link, there is no statement, just that one sentence

Do you seriously think that this kind of situation is unique to the league of Ireland? Look at what's going on in leagues in other small (and not so small) countries all over Europe.....teams folding, merging, being bought out and moved all the time.

It was on BBC Football Focus on Saturday that, since 1992 (?) 81 league and non-league clubs in England have gone into administration. Some more than once.

It showed the teams highlighted, and there were a lot of league clubs in there, including big names.

Football has been eating itself for years now, and there are some big bangs ahead I suspect (e.g. Glasgow Rangers not looking too healthy right now).

It's a global madness that no-one seems willing or able to stop.

So is the Kildare - Salthill Devon play-off on or not? Devon website says it is, one of the lads in work said he heard the Kildare chairman on radio saying the game was on as well?!?!?!?!?!

just a though and could be wrong but if the game goes ahead and kildare win but then withdraw from the LOI then derry can be invited to join the first div but if they fail to fulfil the fixture then salthill are intitled to be promoted assuming they comply with licensing
I wish i did not know then what I dont know now

I'm nearly sure it was just referring to league clubs (or clubs that were in the league at the time of going into administration) and I was about to post the same thing.

There's plenty of sticks to beat the league with but clubs getting into financial difficulty is far from the biggest, it's an issue that's repeated across the world.

Very sad to see Kildare go, as others have said it's a lovely little ground and easy to access from the train, it made the fact that the Youths games I saw there were generally shocking just about bearable.

According to Sports News on 2fm, Stephen McGuiness (PFAI) said that Kildare haven't gone bust and that they will be fulfilling their play-off fixture with Salthill Devon this week.

    The plot thickens . . .

If Kildare and Derry leave the league, there's room for Salthill and Derry to replace them. I assume all the A League clubs would be given an option of applying, and the best one be given a league spot (like Fingal last year). The other option is a ten-team First Division if Salthill don't get in.

Have they any players left?. You'd think an official statement saying they'd played their last game and have been placed into liquidation would be clear enough. Not in this league though, always some confusion around the corner.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Despite the club in liquidation, without a board, it seems the PFAI think the game is going ahead. The FAI has not announced that it off either, and neither have Salthill. Who knows what they are hoping for, but KCFC is gone and the Salthill game is NOT going ahead. The club and team have disbanded.

    This League is crazy.

    Play off

If Kildare don't fulfil the play off game(s), they cannot collect the "prize monies" (€6000) for finishing last. The PFAI are using the opportunity to ensure this money is collected and routed to the players - regardless of the fact that the Club has gone into liquidation and they don't intend to play in the LOI next year? Make logic out of that!

Met someone associated with Devon 10 minutes ago and he said they have NOT been told the game is off and are training tonight with a view to the game going ahead.
Is there anyone in charge out there????????????????????????????????
