    Hall of Fame 2009

The 4th annual Cork City Supporters Club Hall of Fame will be held at 8pm on Saturday 7th November in the Metropole Hotel, McCurtain Street, Cork. On the night 2 more City players will be inducted into the Hall of Fame joining amongst others Dave Barry, Patsy Freyne and Pat Morley.

This, being the 25th anniversary of the formation of the football club, is a very special year for Cork City FC. To help us celebrate this anniversary, our special guests on the night will be Mr John Delaney Chief Executive of the FAI and the distinguished Cork football journalist Mr Bill George. MC for the night will be well known radio and TV personality but more importantly life long Cork City supporter John Creedon! DJ on the night will be Red FM’s Ruairi O'Hagan.

As well as various archive footage of City matches over the years there will also be an exhibition organised by FORAS member Mick Ring displaying all the jerseys worn by the first team over the past 25 years. And of course as always we’ll also be joined on the night by a host of past and present Cork City players and managers!

As it a special year our friends at FORAS, who have always been very supportive of the event, have come on board to help with the organisation of the Hall of Fame. We appreciate and thank them for this and also for their continuing work in the guardianship of Cork City FC. As a practical gesture of support for FORAS we will be donating the proceeds of this year’s event to them. FORAS will be making a presentation on the night to the 2009 Cork City Player of the Year as voted by the members of FORAS.

Tickets to the Hall of Fame cost €20 and are available from the following outlets:

Tickets are on sale from the following venues in the Turners Cross area; The Evergreen Bar, The Turners Cross Tavern, The Horseshoe Bar, The Turners Cross Community Centre on Cork City home match nights from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on 29th September and 6th October. Tickets are also available at the next meeting of the CCSC on Tuesday 13th October at 8pm in The Telecom Club, McCurtain Street, Cork and on FORAS buses to City away games between now and the end of the season.

The best Hall of Fame to date from what i am hearing. Fair play to everyone who was involved in this. An event that helps to consolidate Citys support, a reward for people who have put in huge efforts throughout this year.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Yes to the first and no to the second.

Delaney spoke very well and was quite entertaining. Also hung around for hours afterwards for photos and chatting as well as inviting the 7 award winners as his guests to the playoff next week. Lovely gesture.
