RIP
Very sad news.
I thought that was a lovely touch yesterday so am bumping this to the end of the thread to encourage people to add their thanks to his final post as a mark of respect.
Foot.ie's now blocked for me in work bar lunchtime so couldn't get on this morning but I was very moved by the dignity his mother has shown in her interview this morning, it does seem like this was an unfortunate accident where a punch was thrown and he hit his head off the pavement rather then a sustained attack but for her to speak the way she did and show the forgiveness she's showing so soon after her sons passing is remarkable. I think it shows where he got his manner from.
I'd suggest a minutes appluase at the France game would be appropriate and have asked if Ger or anyone else on YBIG who's been involved with the FAI in arranging the singing section could try and ask for it. If anyone else reading here has contacts in Abbottstown then it'd be great if it could be arranged. It's very strange how I feel considering I only knew the guy from debating on here but it's been genuinely affecting.
RIP
Very sad news.
youngirish: "I'm nearly always right about young players (it's frighteningly accurate)..." :)
I haven't posted a lot on this forum but I actually read it all the time. For someone who is living outside of Ireland this is a great resource for hearing the opinions of the "real" fans...and one of those opinions I always liked to read was Eirebhoys. I know people always like to say nice things about people when they have passed, but it is the truth. He had a great knowledge of the game and always delivered his argument in a proper manner. I'm sure if I met him in real life he'd be one of those sound lads that everyone likes.
Really saddened by this. I think everyone here is so similar in that we all same the share passion...Irish football.
I think we all should contact the FAI by whatever means to have minutes applause or silence at the upcoming game.
RIP
I'd be very happy to contribute to a flag. Whoever takes charge of this project please PM me.
Oh My God... I've been away so had no idea. I'd be happy to contribute to any gesture. Please PM me what's requied
R.I.P
Lads, he was a protagonist of the singing section one of the main backers and instigators of the idea. I think a wall of sound in croker to get the whole team going as well as the crowd would be exactly what he wanted(i dont know but i think) he hated there being no noise in Croker so a round of applause would be good.

I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
What a great post.
My exchanges with Eirebhoy were mainly about the merits of AMG. He had such belief that someday AMG would come good for Ireland.
The perfect opportunity for AMG to shine in a green jersey as a tribute to his greatest fan is in two weeks time . Go on Aiden, do the biz.
Eirebhoy RIP
Honest! I am not a secret Tim nor a closet Sham - I really am a Seagull.
R.I.P Eirebhoy - an untimely death in tragic circumstances. Condolences to your family.
I only knew Gearoid from posting here. Eirebhoy was a great contributor to Foot.ie - someones opinion I valued and respected.
If Foot.ie had a first 11 - Eirebhoy would be in the team and always a potential match winner.
Many thanks, Eirebhoy - you'll be missed.
Quoting years at random since 1975
Shocking and tragic news, just heard about it now.
His posts on here were always well reasoned and worth reading, and he came across as a gentleman.
Sincerest condolences to Gearoid's family and friends.
RIP Eirebhoy.

RIP Eirebhoy
" I'll go right up to here,
it can't possibly hurt.
All they will find is my
beer and my shirt."
RIP Eirebhoy. Deepest sympathies to his family.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
RIP Eirebhoy; I can only also offer my sincere condolences, my thoughts are with his family
Probably the most universally respected poster on here.
RIP Gearoid
Terrible news. I didn't know him personally, but from the posts of his that I've read, and from other people's accounts of the kind of person that he was, it's clear that he'll be greatly missed.
RIP.
There is a tributes page in all matchday programmes so getting a tribute for Gearóid will be fairly simple.
I'd also be in favour of trying to get a minute's applause seeing as he was such a devout fan.
EB is probably up in heaven chasing Jinky Johnstone and Tommy Burns around as we speak!![]()
LESS OF THE BULL NOW!
Rest in Peace Gearoid
RIP Eirebhoy
Best wishes to his family at this difficult time.
Rest in Peace.
May God Bless everyone who you love and who loves you.
