I hope they catch the sick, twisted fcuker who did this He had a great knowledge of the game. Even when you dont know someone from a forum in real life, its still very saddening to hear this sort of thing, especially considering the circumstances, part of me still hopes this was just a misprint and his condition is improving. RIP Eirboy if its true .

Times like this put everything in perspective. I think he joined these boards around the same time as me in 2004. I remember him panicking over studying for his University exams while trying to squeeze in 8 hours on here at the same time. I tried to stick with him post for post in the early days but I had to submit to his greatness.

As someone else said - a crazy uncompromising Celts supporter whose love for Aidan McGeady was uncomfortable . He said recently that he was looking forward to 2 huge games obviously from afar in Oz. If the news is true and I do hope its not, you'll now have the best seats in the house in Croker and Paris and shouting Ireland on from Heaven on high. YNWA.

Prayers with you and your family tonight kid.

I'm gutted I have to say. Eirebhoy was alongside Stuttgart, Tets and Gary Spain as the people on this forum (Ireland) whose opinions I'd wait patiently for and sometimes seek out.

I think I met him once a while back, but it was on this forum and reading his posts that I gfew to respect him greatly. A fantastic poster, a top Ireland supporter, and had a real decency about him.
Also struggling to grasp how young he was - I really don't think he came across as being so young. A real tragedy.

    RIP eirebhoy, you'll be missed.

Manys an arguement i had with him on foot.ie about his irrational love for celtic and particularly aiden mcgeady, even though he couldn't see half the things with his green tinted specs i had the utmost respect for him, he is one of the few posters who i wanted to meet up for pints but for whatever reason he never came to the meet ups (maybe cos i was going to be there ). Anyway he is one of those fellas that makes me read and come on here and passed manys a day for me wherever i was and always looked forward to reading his posts or getting uploads on the internet for us away from home who couldn't get to see things.

Great poster and an honour to know(sort of) him. I really am sad to hear the stuff going around poor mother, my mother often says to me "what about your poor auld mother", im sure thats exactly how his feels now the poor woman having to travel that far.

RIP EIREBHOY(if true), Ireland lets go make heavens no.1 ireland fan proud and happy come 3 weeks time.

RIP eirebhoy. Many moons ago I applied for membership for the football forum on boards.ie, but only got one sponsor, and you need two to post. Skip ahead a few months and I get a pm off him here. He'd seen my name on the logged in list on the boards football forum and searched my previous posts to see if I'd ever applied for membership. Found the original application and voluntarily stood as my second sponsor. Always thanked my posts in the Irish Abroad thread there too. Can't belive it.
Like most on here, I've never had the pleasure of his company, but I did try to arrange pints before some underage and B games. Unfortunately, college assignments and exams always seemed to get in the way. Always enjoyed his posts, great respect for the way he backed up his opinions with facts, postings from other forums and videos, even if I didn't always agree with them.

Terrible news and a tragedy, especially for someone so young, hard to believe he has gone, so sad to think he will never post here again.
My deepest condolences to his family who must be absolutely devastated.

I agree. Does anyone have an email address for someone at the FAI?

This is terrible news. I had the greatest respect for Eirebhoy and his knowledge of football. He was so level headed and never got into an argument with anyone and if so did it in a constructive and intelligent manner. I know that he went to a lot of the Ireland matches both home and away but appeared to keep a low profile. Appeared like a shy sort of lad.

Even though I have never met him, it feels like losing someone I have known all my life and I am presently sick with anger that some low life thug could be capable of this.

RIP Eirebhoy. Foot.ie will never be the same again.

I know the mods have a tendency to be strict for staying on topic on particular boards but ffs lads surely this thread should be in the Ireland forum eirebhoy's adopted home when he posted on foot.ie and the place where everyone who followed his posts can see the news and contribute.

Anyone up for raising a few quid on here and getting a massive flag with his post name and real name and an RIP message for the next 2 ireland games? I'll certainly donate though I wouldn't know how to set it up and I can't make the games anyway.

ya kingdomi was thinking the same, and though i didn't know wws i always got into arguements with him too It feels cheap to call EB a friend or anything like that but thats how it feels at the moment that he has gone.

YI thats what i was thinking earlier, would be great tribute to him.

If it's deemed inappropriate there, they can move it there and then move it back, leaving a redirect in the Ireland forum.
