I know this is probably a stupid question but do they have to install bucket seats. Is standing completely out of the question on the terrace in question. We had over a thousand standing on the Railway end terrace last friday night.
The club has to ensure that season ticket holders and regulars get first call on tickets...have been to every home game bar one when i was out of the country and also travelled to a few away games when i could..if i,or people in similar circumstances, couldnt get a ticket due to huge demand by people who were in the Showgrounds once this season or not at all i would be furious...always great to see a huge crowd at home games but the people who were at games like midweek v Bray,Cork in the setanta and other less glamorous games need to be looked after...
why there is going to be no bucket seats and a capacity of just 6 thousand is beyond me.
well said lads i sincerly hope that the fai stand up and take notice. we will wait and see.
At least a thousand and up to 2500 or more. I think we will sell what we are allocated and some will buy through ticketmaster if they go on sale there and the same with sligo im sure. If there is a section of the ground allocated to our tickets and we get 2,000 to 2500 there then id be happy. I was dissapointed with the crowd for the semi but the final is diffrent so we can only wait and see.
I hope the club are doing all they can to see to it that the regular visitors get their tickets first.
If I were decided on how tickets were distributed i'd start with the people who do voluntary work for the club. Secondly, the season ticket holders, we as the devoted fans can be considered the life and blood of this club, may it be rain, hail or snow, we are there to support our club. And last but not least, the sunshiners/event junkies. I said it before, but i'd be devastated to be a regular being denied a trip to the Final because of some sunshiner who's only ever Rovers game was probably last friday and wont be at another game until we are in another semi final.
Coleman for Ireland
I don't think anybody in their right mind would disagree with those sentiments lads. Season ticket holders and volunteers should be easily looked after and given top priority.
There is a category of supporter who could end up missing out in this whole scenario and I would include myself in that bracket.
Whenever I am home I go to the games and every game in Dublin and in Bray, Dundalk and Drogheda I go as well. Obviously I have no proof of this but it should never have come to this in my opinion. I also would be furious if the "event junkies" as everybody loves to call them got tickets ahead of me.
Unfortunately, that's life, especially when the FAI have a say in it.
The fact that we should even be worried about it is madness.

black market will be ripe with fingal sunshiners selling us their tickets for 50 yo yo a pop
Lads NO good talking on the forums if we are to try and get our allocation increased. I spoke with teh FAI and also other fans have done so during the day and their position hasnt softened. Supporetrs are angry and soem have even sugegsted telling the FAI to shove their mesely allocation and withdraw form the final. Its the last straw....
But from an earlier e-mail nole mooney said if anyione wanted to contact hom they can do so.E-mail address is in previous thread.
So come on lad **** or get off the pot...Let the FAI know how we feela nd pass the link on let them know how we feel about this.

If this is true that there is to be no tempory seating for the final it is very disappointing.
It is small mindness on the part of the FAI. They should put in a couple of thousand seats behind goal and then spent some of the 10,000,000 they will make from the French game marketing and promoting their supposed showpiece game of the year.
I am a block booker with the FAI for the home internationals for several years and have just paid for my tickets for the French game at the rip off price of 50 euros to sit 20 metres behind the goal. Up to know I could justify to myself that some of this money was going back into the local game but then something like this happens. We are being denied the opportunity to promote our club to the next gerneration of supporters if we are limited to 2,500 tickets.
At the semi final last week I was heartened to see so many families with young kids at the match. These are the people that will miss out on tickets for the final and we may miss out on a new generation of supporters. I can still remember clearly sitting in the West Stand in Lansdowne as a 15 year old in 1994 when over 10,000 people from Sligo attended the final.
I was disappointed that Fingal won the 2nd semi on Sunday as I feared something like this would happen. They have no fans or history, there is no glamour or romance involved in a cup match with Fingal (see the picture in Tuesdays Indo of the empty terraces in Morton) But even allowing for this and the fact that the 2 WC matches are on that week, the FAI should not be allowed get away with not promoting and playing this match in a suitable venue. 2 stands and 6,000 seats IS NOT suitable for the Cup Final.
The club need to make their case strongly to that FAI and get the media on their side. Also they should insist that Fingal are not allowed to give away tickets as freebies. Any tickets not sold must be returned to us. I would doubt that Fingal sold many more than 500 adult tickets for the semi final.
Email sent for what its worth.
Hope the FAI aren't waiting to see how ticket sales go initially to decide whether or not to put temporary seats in place. As long as the dooley regulars get a ticket, it will be all good![]()
well done alan, good piece
You are 100% correct Alan but it would be more effective if the campaign was done in a co-ordinated way.
If the FAI do not change the arrangements then they should be hit hard by all means possible - emails, phone calls, texts......
Embarrass the life out of them; get on the national media - Joe Duffy - MNS - Ocean FM - Local TD's, whatever it takes.
They should not forget that last Friday nights match was the most positive piece of publicity Irish Soccer got this year.

I have just sent the following message to Matt Cooper (Today FM), who can be contacted here. Feel free to use it.
Dear Matt and team,
I would like to bring your attention to the following Press Release: http://www.thebitored.com/?p=1041
I know Matt is a soccer fan and it would be appreciated if the show could give the issue of seats to be allocated to fans for the soccer showpiece in the League of Ireland – the FAI Cup Final, some of your time.
Sligo Rovers had over 5000 people at the recent semi final against Waterford United, and the FAI now want to allocate just 2500 tickets to Sligo fans for the final. We feel we are getting a raw deal, as bucket seats could be provided to increase the ground capacity. Especially when you consider that bucket seats have been provided to host a foreign team in a recent friendly game. We wonder - why not for this game?
It would be much appreciated if you could give this a small bit of you time.
Regards,
......
