Murphy, Lee and Curran should never be shortlisted. Jason McCartney should be on the list as he's been quietly reliable. Glynn's only scored 10 in about 30 appearances in a division he should be scoring a lot more in. Only McCarthy and King are contenders although King has faded slightly as the season wore on. McCarthy gets my vote then.

A bit harsh on Curren and Lee?

    Anyway, McCarthy!

I wouldn't have shortlisted Curran as he hasn't played enough, he has been in and out but has performed when he has been in the team recently.
If god wanted us to play football in the clouds he would have put grass up there!

McCarthy has been pretty good all season no doubt, but his 4 red cards would count against him when making my mind up.
Even excluding that i'd rate King a better player.

mccarthy has saved goals and results by getting himself sent off for the good of the team.. made a great save against shells about two months ago

and also considering how little the manager plays glynn his goal scoring record is pretty acceptable

Wouldn't give it to Glynn because he has the ability to do a lot more than he has done, even though he's done well. He looked as if he was playing at 75% effort a lot of the time. McCarthy was the most consistent I think overall though in all honesty I've missed a good few games this year between one thing and another. Tom King has been very good too though.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

i very much doubt that Brian McCarthy would stay I would think that Pat Fenlon will put him in his squad as Owen Hearys increasingly injury prone..
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

    Thumbs up

    Lads,

I only seen approx 6 of your matches!!

I live in Athlone but love soccer thus travel a lot to Longford when Athlone away!!

I agree with Brian McCarthy as apart from his Red Cards is a Top Defender & you will do well to hod on to him!!

I train in Athlone and seen Longford training on a regular basis.
I must say your standard of training improved dramatically when you changed Manager!!

    Cronin looks a good manager!!

    Cheers...
