Cook made the right decision. We were never going to beat that Bohs team. They were quality and wanted it more than any team we could have put out. Now we have a full team of rested players for Drogs on Friday, we win that and we are safe, simples!!

That is absolute bull**** and the attitude that seems to be common among the people supporting the theory that Cook was right.
How can anyone say that we were never going to beat that Bohs team, who are they, Man Utd??
They are 11 players, playing in the same league as us, we have had some great results against them this season iv seen them many times this season and know that we could have got a result if we went with the right attitude. To do that you need the manager naming the strongest possible team, that game was last Friday, the next game is this Friday, how many ****ing days do professional layers need to 'rest' ?????? Absolutely terrible if they need the guts of 2 weeks.

The last time i remember, the league is the bread and butter of any clubs season, anywhere in the world. The cup isnt for a month and it will be a sorry wait if we have to go into playoffs or have extra games.

All i hear about is the cup this and the cup that, if we dont get a win on Friday night, **** the cup. Theres more pressure on the club now for Friday night because we didnt get anything from the Bohs game

Had we gone up there, with the right attitude, tactics and personel we could have got a result. Even a point, that would have had us still ahead of Galway at the worst of times, meaning we would be a point ahead of Pats and level but ahead of Galway, leaving us in a great position.

We may not have got anything, but there was one way about insuring we didnt and Cook made sure of that.

i think people saying we wouldnt have beaten bohs with a full team is crap. we've beaten them twice and drawn with them twice (90mins league cup game) in dalymount aswell this season already. i think if peersy had have been there friday night then the two first goals may not have been scored. no point dwelling on it now, we're good enough to win friday

he's the manager, he calls the shots, we need to get over it and get behind them friday

Correct me if I'm wrong but if Peers or Raf played against Bohs and got a yellow card, they would have been out of the final.

Please don't bring englinsh football into this!!
That bohs team was ten times the team we played ealier on in the season. They controlled the game from start to finish ans played lovely one touch football at times. We had 5 in midfield and they still ran rings around us. They would have done the same to any team we put out.

and what if we Peers, Raf, Blinkhorn etc. all picked up injuries and missed the drogs game? we'd be rightly ****ed then and people would be slating Cook for playing them.
Yes they're professionals but they are also human and its been a long season playing in 4 competitions, they're bound to start feeling it now.

Where did I mention the Cup? I'm more worried about having all players fit for the game we must win against Drogs to stay up, as I hav previously stated.

But he has made sure that all of our key players are fit and ready for Friday, which is now the most important game of the season and is alot more winnable than Bohs away ever was.

I'm still baffled how they were top of the league with 4 games to go and just had to win the 4 games but it's our fault they didn't win the league when we didn't play them

Going back to friday night we are absolutley brutal without peers at the back , richie ryan in centre of midfield does not work anymore either I assume Cook copped onto this also and this is why he hauled him off at halftime worried about our options in the cup final now if O'Grady is suspended.
I would love to see Morrison play in the centre of midfield. His vision and ability to pick out a pass are second to none. Maybe put Ventre beside him to provide cover for the back 4.

So if we were playing that Bohs team in the cup final we shouldn't really bother turnin up?

We are fighting a relegation battle. One would have expected that we would have played our best team. We would have drawn and still be above Galway if we'd played our best 11. Certainly the lads who drove up from Sligo would have been expecting our strongest team to be fielded. I live on the northside so I wasn't overly put out. Not playing your best team against strong opposition in the midst of a relegation battle is baffling. If we'd won we'd be safe now and could have rested everybody for Friday and it's nearer the cup final.

Would anyone have complained if he had played his full strength side against Bohs? No.

That answers the question itself imo.

Without wishing to appear pedantic, Brewer, but 'yes' would answer the question as well.

Totally agree avvenalaf the amount of people complaining if Peers had been booked or Raf or somebody else had got injured, then you'd hear all the why did he play them !

Cook could not have won with the fans last friday with whatever the team that went out, but it was the sensible thing to do as he knows his players best. People who traveled still had a team to support, they just played poorly against the best team in the league.

Have to agree with Cooks team selection against bohs as seen on friday we can't afford to be without peers/raf/kelly for the cup final , before the games on friday Pats needed 4 points to finsih above us few would of thought they would of got anything in Drogheda but they did and coupled with Shams bottling it bigtime against galway we can expect pats to get another 3 points this friday so we have to beat drogs to avoid a playoff , worst case scenario I don't think the playoffs would be a bad thing as it will free up suspensions and as fingal are going to be involved in the playoffs and therefore will be a lot match sharper for the final we as we could be sitting around for a few weeks.
