Wasn't there a Foot.ie Flickr group?

Nice thread.
I went on a little spree of taking photos in the locality a few months ago but my 'expertise' is limited to seeing something I like and pressing the button. Must figure out the finer arts at some stage. Here are a few of my more favourite captures -
"Sunset At Barrow Beach"
I suppose this one has to be "Kiss My Ass"
"Mind The Gap"
Any advice from the more expert, or not so expert, would be welcome.
"Serene Tree"
"Untitled"
"I'm Not Sure Why But This Mountain Caught My Eye"
With landscape images I do think it's worthwhile messing around with photoshop and seeing what effects you can produce
Hope you don't mind me using one of yours but to show you what you can do in even 5 mins on photoshop I knocked this up
"Mind The Gap"
I don't know if that's the sort of thing you'd be looking to do though, it's all down to personal preference but how I did that is
Open image in PS
Create new layer
Go to Filter - Blue - Gaussian Blur, set it to 5%
Set layer mode to overlay
Go to channels, double click on green
Get a new layer
Set foreground to white and press alt + backspace
Go back to Filter - Blur - Gaussian Blur and set it to 10%
and hey presto. Similarly on my own ones

or on a colour image
HOLGA
it just makes the image a bit more surreal and dreamlike, which again I like when it comes to certain styles of photography, landscape being one of them, but messing around on photoshop and looking up online tutorials is well worth your while if that's the area you want to investigate

Some great photo's there Kingdom Hoop.I particularly like 'Serene Tree' and the next one to it.
Serene tree is very well taken. Some fine detail in there. What kind of camera is it taken from?
Where is 'Untitled' taken. I think I recognise that road.
Good work on the photoshop Jebus. I've never done that before. I will have a look. What site or programme do you recommend?
Not the same as a showcase for posters' work, but www.trekearth.com is an excellent site which anyone posting on this thread will enjoy, I think.
Harpsbear I'd go with Photoshop personally, but Google have a great free editing program called Picasa that you can download, it's pretty basic but for little edits like sharpening your image, messing around with hue and saturation, things like that, it works a treat
Nikon D40. It's the entry level dSLR from Nikon, my first foray into "proper camera" territory. It was recommended to me by someone who knows about these things, and I can't find fault with it. It definitely captures colour and detail well. For a beginner workman like me it's certainly an adequate tool.
It's in the mountains just outside Killarney in Kerry, in a part called the "Gap of Dunloe". Gorgeous part of the country, pity it was cloudy that day though as the light doesn't do the views justice - maybe that's where Jebus's photoshopping tips might come in.Where is 'Untitled' taken. I think I recognise that road.
Ah Kerry doesn't need much help on the beauty front to be fair, Limerick on the other hand would need Aslan himself to spend a couple of hours working his magic on photoshop to get it looking like something from a Narnia movie
The Gap is great, I went there when it was ****ing rain and the sight of it all pouring down the mountains was incredible. Damn near didn't make it through!
I'm supposed to be doing a Uni reading day today but too busy sorting out my pictures to be honest. I have some nice ones actually taken by my mobile phone which in a way has put my regular camera to shame to be honest.
Just sorting into folders.
I'll take a look at that programme Jebus. Free programmes are good. Liking the work of the WD40 Hoop. I have a can in the car so I'll spray my camera down with it. Might look at getting a Nikon then. I have a girl at work interested in the camera I have now.I was going to stick it on ebay.
Some great photo's so far though.I'm impressed. I think your doing very well by the way Hoop. Far from a novice.
Your getting what I don't seem to get which is the actual atmosphere and image as I saw it and wanted the picture to see it. A bit like Jebus's terracing at Jackman Park. The bad news Jebus is its the best I've ever seen Jackman Park.
one of the funniest flags I've seen at a footie match was a Tenerife flag at a match in Madrid this year. Rayo Vallecano de Madrid v Tenerife in the Spanish 2nd division
Right, I can't for the life of me get the picture to embed, so see link below:

Are the pictures you've posted all taken by you Jebus? I'm really impressed by them. I love the black and white photo's. That I can do in photoshop actually but there's something incredible about black and white photo's.
You have clearly a good grasp of photography. Do you use it at all or showcase any of your stuff?
What camera aya using Jebus and are they all taken from that same camera?
I'm beginning to hate this thread - nothing like seeing great photos for making a body feel utterly inadequate in the camera using department
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.
Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!
