    No worries.

I did a Google search for O'Hara and Wicklow and think I managed to track down the post you were referring to in this thread: http://www.ybig.ie/forum/forum_posts...544&PID=294623

The guy seems to have some "inside knowledge", as they say.

I know O'Hara wants to play for us.
    I know Trap watched him.
I know half his family are from Wicklow.
I know his uncle played for us.
    A little ode to O'Hara there. :P

Although he claims to know O'Hara wants to play for us, which still remains under debate, at least publicly, as far as I'm aware, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on the Wicklow link because it would be a fairly peculiar thing to make up. I wonder who his uncle was... Anyone know?

taken from Passing Interests post in the thread about the training camp which is now, for some unknown reason, locked...

Trap was quoted as saying "I want to look at Paul Green - he has great promise.
does Trap realise he is 27 years old?? These arent the sort of players we should be looking at in my opinion.

If Trap had that attitude then Andrews wouldnt have been called up

Andrews was a premier league player at the time. This guy is not.
Andrews is Irish. This guy's grand-dad was Irish.

My point being there are other, younger, Irish or Irish born players who could be looked at before Green. Its just an opinion.

I get your point Skstu but as far as Im concerned if he wants to play for us and is good enough I have no problem in giving him a look anyway whatever age he is. At 27 he could contribute for 3 campaigns

Just as an edit to that, Seen in the paper today that John Aldridge was 28 before he got a call up.He turned out to be a decent grandfather rule addition.

The availability of a player of Tottenham’s Jamie O’Hara’s ability would at the very least exert some pressure on the regulars in the manager’s eyes but with the midfielder still reluctant to give up on an England career, Trapattoni did not sound like a man who was expecting a phone call.

He recalled, as it happens, having been in much the same situation with Mauro Camoranesi when he was in charge of Italy in 2003. On that occasion, he said, he had phoned the then Argentina coach Marcelo Bielsa about the Juventus defender and was told he was considered surplus to requirements in Buenos Aires. Upon being told this, Camoranesi promptly declared for Italy.

Asked if he might adopt the same approach in relation to O’Hara and phone the England manager, Trapattoni flashed a hint of a smile and replied: “It’s my opinion that there’s no need to ring Fabio Capello”.

Unless I've misinterpreted him, (where's Manuela when you need her) Trap is saying O'Hara is obviously surplus to requirements for England right? That's why there's no need to ring Capello, his World Cup squad selection makes that point for him.

O'Hara clearly wants to wait untill all hopes of an England cap are extinguished. It's all a bit cringeworthy at this point. If he were ultimately to turn out for Ireland, would it represent a disappointment, 'honour' or combination of the two? I honestly don't know. Let's follow him on Twitter and we may eventually be blessed with the answer..

You've got to hand it to him, the lad knew 4 months ago that England would have a stinker and that there'd be talk of youth and overhauling in the aftermath. Precognition is a valuble asset in a footballer. Is there anyone who believes this guy would swap a solitary England cap for a career with Ireland?

    How times have changed.

Imagine Jack Charlton reminising about how he approached a player to play for Ireland and he got his drip feed response via regular updates on twitter. OMG, LOL , Etc.

This lad could create a dangerous precedent if we're not careful and just leaves us open to plain ridicule as well.

I'm not generally too fussy about who plays for Ireland as long as they give their all, but it would be disgraceful if this guy declared for Ireland. I really can't see it happening though, it looks like he made up his mind who he wanted to play for a long time ago.
