With Trap we have midfielders like Whelan, Green, Andrews etc
with a manager who "managed" we could have a midfield with players like O'Hara, Noble, McCarthy, Ireland starting on a regular basis.....even Andy Reid who has abviously been seriously headfu*ked and his career has nose dived ever since.
Instead of McGeady, Whelan, Green, Duff it could read McGeady, Noble, Ireland, O'Hara/Coleman ...............and we would all be delighted........

Since we are on this issue I would like to know whatever happened with Jamie O'Hara, Mark Noble, Kyle Naughton, Gary O'Neil, Matt Connolly..........Anton Ferdinand etc? Do they not want to play for us, have they been pursued? Anyone in the know? I thought at one stage 2 or 3 were meant to be coming on board.

Are we seriously blaming Trapattoni for Andy Reid's fitness problems now?

Ya, he was only called in late due to many pull-outs. Micah Richards, Martin Kelly, Kieran Gibbs, Chris Smalling, James Tomkins & Phil Jones were all missing.

O'Hara is really the only one i'd be bothered about. Noble's alright, but he's nothing special when it comes down to it.

If Jamie O'Hara really wanted to be playing for us, he would be by now.

So thats 2 English guys who dont want to play for us...Trap should obviously beg them to play against their wishes.

One Irish guy who doesnt want to play for us....Trap has asked, should he force him to play?

One young Scottish guy who does want to play for us, has played for us but is injured every time he is called up....Trap should do his best Padre Pio healing trick.

One Irish player who has struggled to be picked at Sunderland...Trap should decide he is the hub for our team.

finally you want to drop Duff and replace him with someone who doesnt want to play for us or someone who has just broken through, and you want to replace our midfielders with 2 players who don't want to play for us.

This explains why Trap is one of the worlds most succesful managers of all time and you are a novelty obsessed barstooler.

    Barton's Irish link
PRESTON midfielder Adam Barton has emerged as a possible recruit for the Republic of Ireland.

The 20-year-old made his debut for Preston last season but he's made real progress this term and has managed 18 appearances for a struggling Preston side.

The club already have two current Irish internationals on the books with Sean St Ledger and Keith Treacy but Barton's Irish credentials have now been made known to the FAI and Ireland scout Mick Martin has been to see the midfielder play.

    Jamie O'Hara
Re England : This is something O'Hara himself is unlikely to do now and not just for reasons of mid-20s career-drift. Capped seven times by England at Under-21 level, he is also eligible to play for the Republic of Ireland. There have already been overtures from the country of his grandparents. "It's obviously quite hard to talk about that now," he says. "I've got Irish in me and they've asked me before. If I get the phone call about playing for my country I'll have to think about it again. I just want to play now."

Also, from O'Hara's brother's Twitter, in response to a question about JO'H's international intentions.

    http://www.twitlonger.com/show/828ras

"@ManofMystery100 not to sure mate. Playing for either Ireland or England would be an honour for him as we have links to both. When and if the time comes he will make the right choice".

Think its pretty clear we're second choice although I reckon that there's more chance of seeing him in a green jersey than a white/red one. I would be happy to have him in the squad for the purpose of increasing midfield options but saying that I'm not overly bothered.

I think in fairness to O'Hara its like this.

With England there is strong potential to win major tournaments. Realistically with Ireland if we even made the semi's we'd be delighted.

He's tried very hard throughout this to maintain a neutrality towards both countries, saying he'd play for both (besides his twitters). England is simply the better option. He's done a far better job than the likes of Westwood did (good catholic). I say leave him make up his own mind, and if he comes to us, welcome him in the door.

I dont think England are potential tournament winners in any way, other than briefly in their own minds pre each tournament, and their being repeatedly outperformed and sometimes well beaten by nations they feel they deem beneath them, and the inevitable tail between the legs early plane home, is a constant source of amusement to many, myself included. They qualify more often than we do, but thats all.

He hasnt maintained any neutrality, his twitter betrays his true feelings on it and insults us in the process, and the value of representing Ireland. He made his mind up years ago, if we called him up tomorrow and so did England, he wouldnt even have to consider it, there wouldnt be a decision to be made in his eyes.

If he did come our way, I would advocate booing his every touch untill he goes back to where he came from, England. That might make the rest of them get off the fence earlier in the years to come also, lets remove the Ireland as a back up career path for these people, that can only be a good thing.

I reckon it goes something like this with O'Hara. I'm eligible to play for both Ireland and Canada. Obviously I would love nothing more than to play for Ireland as I grew up watching the Jack Charlton teams and playing football in Ireland with all my friends as children. Now, were I good enough to play professional football for the likes of Spurs, I'd be hoping to get a call up for Ireland. If I didn't, I would probably wait it out as long as I possibly could before accepting a call up for Canada. Sorry, but Canada are not very good in comparison to Ireland and I don't consider myself a Canadian anyway. I think I'd wait until I was about thirty, and there was no chance at all of an Ireland call up. Then, and only then, would I consider turning out for my second choice, Canada. They'd be lucky to have a player the calibre of Tottenham Hotspur turn out for them.

So you see kids, we need to give O'Hara a break. He's been nothing but honest about wanting to play for England the entire time.

    yep i agree.

The real question is whether we are desperate enough to indulge players with that attitude. Personally, i'd rather do without.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
