    INLA to "stand down"

...seemingly they've grown bored with the noble cause of drug-dealing, racketeering, intimidating and murdering their way to a united Ireland.

So sad ...and so close to the finish line too. Well, thanks for the good times lads and happy, prosperous retirement.

I thought they stood down years ago.

There were always rumours, particularly in the ninties that they supplied Bouncers to Pubs and Night spots in Dublin.

In more recent years they seemed to be in the News mostly for in-fighting and drug turf wars.

Will this mean an immediate cessation to calls for an All-Ireland League?
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!

Good to hear these murderous lunatics have given up all pretension of a political cause and will presumably stick to organized crime and vicious feuding from now on.

As cynical as I am about their motives or what exactly them "standing down" entails this is a positive step in the right direction.

Fact is that the majority of their hardcore "idealogists" would have jumped along time ago to join the more militant and seemingly more focussed dissident groups so they've not really been a player on the scene for a while.
