Ignore Max Power, he is no more, the future is Ron Burgundy. I'd love to be Ron Burgundy but they won't let me........
November Rain - Guns N Roses
Kashmir - Led Zepplin
If at first you don't succeed, redefine success.
Right, he's certainly not the best guitarist of all time (thats hendrix) but to say he cant play to save his life is just utter ****** ! cope on to yourself, he is one of the best of the past 20 years.Originally posted by Conor74
Omigod, U2? That man couldn't play to save his life...hence the distinctive choppy sounds that has become his signature. He came up with a few great moments alright, but wouldn't put him down as a great solo guitarist.
I'd qualify that by saying that when they started he couldn't play, but as he's gone on he's certainly learnt.... I thought you'd appreciate the punk ethos U2 had when they started - it wasn't about being able to play, it was about being in a band.

conor, they were a seriously good "rock/guitar"band before theyOriginally posted by Conor74
. Status Quo have been enormously successful too as a guitar based rock band, we all know the old one about surviving on three chords. ..
hit the 3 chord "live at butlins" circuit.i m talking over 20 years ago
here with the "dog with two heads" etc.
the sound that is associated with them now is a pale imitation of what this band is/was capable of.i cringe every time i hear them on the radio .(because its invariably one of their last "hits")

Well I'm listening to the best of Poison as I neglect my thesis (due in tomorrow) and while they may look (and occasionally sound) a bit dodgy CC DeVille is one hell of a guitar player. I'll come back to this thread once that bloody assignment is outta the way.
The ball is round and has many surprises.
Never mind Conor I've moved onto Snow Patrol now.![]()
Some of Therapy?'s stuff have great solos too. Ditto for old Goo Goo Dolls (i.e. pre 'Iris' and maturity)

People probably think OASIS are the last band to consider when talking bout solo's but Champagne Supernova with Paul Weller Live at was it Knebworth is hard to beat.
Also another you mighten expect is This is a Low Live by Blur.

Was it not John Squire at Knebworth?Originally posted by Beavis

Possibly the Paul Wellar one might have been Glastonbury or something.I did say 'was it Knebworth' cos I wasn't too sure.
.I forgot about the John Squire one.It was quite good but not suited as much to his style as Paul Wellar IMO.
